Should be. Decided on running Lubuntu - Since it's lightweight and has the software repositories of Ubuntu.
Current boot time into XP is 15 seconds. Should get that under 10 with Lubuntu and a bit of optomising in the BIOS.
I also got a 3x52mm gauge holder which I'll make something out of that. Gauges on the front and around back a USB hub for dongles (FM, GPS, wireless etc.) sitting on the dash. I'm planning on doing something tomorrow with that (at least get things mocked up).
Urm. So what it should have once I'm done - GPS, FM radio, DAB radio, HDTV, Bluetooth, full media shenanigans (music, video, movies etc.), internetings, WiFi huntings, pretty much anything computer related I can do if I choose. Can also play some decent games if I want (or waiting for the SO....) Specs are 2.8Ghz, 4gb RAM, 64gb SSD, GeForce 9300 with external USB HDD for more storage in the glovebox.
The only thing to be sorted is the car power supply. Sourced a nice
pico psu which I still need to get 4P to molex adaptors..... Since I forgot to order them with it. PSU has built in protection for starting, program it to delay power down when car is turned off and to make coffee....
