Wow , times certainly changing , when I was a teenager , we were members of a vintage car club that knew a few brake material bonding companies.

Spoke to a mate that owns a spray , panel beating business and just cant get tradesmen , not even part time , the apprentices just coming out of their time won't turn up for less than $2000 a week apparentlywhen interviewed.

Okay calling it good enough at this point

I test fit it against the clutch and I can see contact points all over. After filing there was a tiny bit of taper, so I used a flatstone to even it out, worked well, had to lap the flatstone constantly though.

Prolly too late but I was at Jim Walton Transmissions to pick up XC90 after a auto transmission service ( Jim rebuilt this gearbox with better valves etc etc etc as is the standard rebuild they do).
I asked about the 240 overdrive auto box suitability for turbo power and he knows everything needed to make it beefy , note that the overdrive cannot be done, not enough space (iirc)
It seems he would know or actually does the work himself to reline parts.
If you call to ask leave a message early in day and hope he deigns to have enough interest in the message to return the call, they are just too busy.
Ohh, the torque converter side of his upgrade for 240 requires engine build specs for matching but sadly the TC build people are nearing twelve months order time.....

Updoot, I think I found the source of the glitter, a bit of casting broke away

I have to say the quality of the castings on these things is pretty rubbish, there's excess material and rough or sharp edges in a bunch of places.
I have done half of the reassembly. The new bearings are in, and the new sprag clutch is in, tomorrow I will probably finish assembly.

The new sprag is nice, it holds its rollers in so you don't need to fiddle around too much to install it.
I was looking at the old spray clutch today and I also noticed a hairline crack in the cage.

I do wonder if maybe I caused the crack while installing the overdrive on the gearbox, maybe I misaligned it and tapped the casting with the end of the output shaft? Or maybe this is why the donor car found itself at the wrecker to begin with.

Rebuilt! Assembly was pretty easy. I have the splines pretty well lined up but not perfect. I am hoping it's good enough.

Problem solved! Car is driving great, no slip at all, overdrive engages and disengages nice and crisply.

Nice work. For some reason I can't find a "like" button at the bottom of a thread??

carnut222 atm it only shows the like button if your mouse is hovering over the post you want to like. It'll become permanently visible soooon (as soon as I figure out how to modify it).
