Ok another update - I'll try and keep it quick.
Got the new front brake callipers from IPD. I love IPD, their service is the best and I receive the parts a week after the order! Brake system flushed and all works now.
Routed the clutch cable as above.
Clutch wasn't engaging/disengaging(?). Had to pull the transmission out and extend the pivot ball towards the engine. After research I found the earlier pivot ball had a separate spacer where as the later ones were an integrated unit. Whoever did the clutch previously installed the pivot ball incorrectly which made it stand out at the correct height…
Test fitted my multi x wheels - they don't fit, not without rolling the rear guards. In any case I don't think they're very suitable for the car - too 80's IMO.
Gave it a home job alignment as you can see. I got it as close to neutral as possible, erring on the side of toe in. There is about 10mm of thread engagement on the tie rod ends - something isn't right. I have checked and rechecked I had the string set up right but have come to the same results… Obviously taking it to a shop for a real alignment would clear up if there is an issue or not but this seems too far out… Also earlier in this thread I posted a photo of the old tie rods, they both had about the same amount of thread exposed with one end actually bent.
Also pulled of the steering box as the whole area was covered in grease. No idea how dry it has run and for how long but it does bind up in the centre. Am going to investigate who does rebuilds. Peer at GLT will prob have a lead.
Other than that it needs two front tyres and fix the not working blower motor, then I think a RWC.
