Assistance with Haldex in Newcastle area

Hi,

I have a 2012 xc60 d5 r-design that has had an issue with error on startup showing AWD disabled for about 3 months. The car still drives fine using front wheel drive only

i have tried changing the oil in the Haldex unit 2 times, cleaned the screens, checked the pump is working by connecting to 12v supply, checked all the fuses relating to the Haldex DIM. I have connected to Vida and the related error shows DEM-P188971 oil pressure performance - mechanical failure - actuator stuck.

im good at following direct instructions, especially the helpful videos on YouTube but I’m not a mechanic by any means. I was thinking the Haldex module might be faulty? Maybe the actuator is related to one of the sensors inside this unit? The version of the Haldex seems to require removal of the prop shaft in order to access the removal of the module. I don’t want to go down this path myself and am looking for either:

a) something to try I have missed if somebody has had this before OR

b) a recommendation from Deere as to whom in the Newcastle or even Sydney area that is very good with this sort of problem. I have seen online that if the module is faulty it’s not as though you can just swap it for another it has to be reprogrammed or something in order to work in another car

cmto74t2 Hi How did this turn out for you. I've got the same issue. Did you have a resolution ?

I'm going to change the oil as a first step. Could you recommend any place to get the trans fluid and o-rings for the service?

The pump may run and produce no pressure or the sensor could be bad

The easiest fix is to replace the pump unit

It was the pump that was faulty. I ordered a new one from FCP euro. The delivery can be a little expensive but the parts are genuine OEM.

The oil and o-rings are also available on EBay or from the FCP euro.

Good luck, hopefully you have Haldex 5 system as lithe pump removal is easy. The older system on my 2009 xc60 meant you had to remove the prop shaft just to service the pump.

I'll look tomorrow to see how accessible it is, fingers crossed for not removing the shaft! Aliexpress has some good prices but not sure if they can be trusted…

Gen 5, at least I get a break there!

How did you find that the pump was faulty? I don't want to take it off, service, then refill with oil to find out that it needs to be replaced and need another litre of pricey oil

If you look back at the old comments , Philia Bear said the answer. He is a Volvo Tech.

If you buy from Berry Motor Group (Mark Iceton) he gets genuine Volvo parts so have the two year warranty in AUS.

May be a little more than FCP ( aslo see Ozvolvo FCP shipping discount) but FCP has lifetime warranty but the cost to send back and forth is the killer.

ah so you didn't bother testing, just went for a new one.

I'm going to go with a clean and new oil first. cross my toes and fingers that's it. I found aftermarket o-ring and bolts for $30 instead of $170 from volvo. The trans oil is only $70 from them which seems quite reasonable considering.$

Off topic, not sure if I need to make a new thread. I need to clean my plastic manifold. Have you had any experience with this? I'm getting mixed feedback, about hot water clean, ultrasonic baths and chemical cleans or just to replace it outright..

i've already cleaned the throttle body and its pretty gross in there. I'm at 160k kms

Is it possible to clear error codes without a OBD2 scanner?

I beleive the AWD disabled error won’t go away till cleared and can’t see if the pump will work till then

I tried the odometer and start button trick but didn’t work.

any recommendations for a cheap obd2 scanner from aliexpress?

The super duper generic ones are pretty good these days, although they still are not as capable as the Volvo VIDA/DICE setup

There's also the ELM327 Bluetooth units if you want to mess around with Android apps. They work but I find them to be a hassle.
