  • [VIC] Early 240 windscreen surround chrome corner

Hi all,

I'm looking for an early chrome corner surround. I have one more in the shed somewhere but after looking for days I've decided to give up and just purchase another! It is marked with a 422 on the inside. Preferable to buy one in Melbourne. Cheers

Hi John @rez - I probably have one SOMEWHERE in my stash of 164 bits. I think they were the same. It's just a matter of finding it. I'll have a look and let you know.

I have one, just not sure if it's spare (I think I have exactly one whole windscreen trim set). If Greg strikes out I'll take a look.

John @rez I found this - not sure whether it's the left or right side, but it has both top and bottom corners. I can try to sit it on one of the 240s to see if I can determine which side it is. Which corner do you need? I think all 4 corners may be different, but not 100% sure. I've just looked at your pic again and I think on the inside of one of the corner tabs I can see something and 22...I need to have a closer look I guess. If we're lucky one of the corners I have will be right for your car.

This will bake your noodle to learn, but all four corner pieces are identical!

Odd, then why would some have numbers on them? :)

OK, I confirmed that the part I have is RH side, and only the lower corner has "422" stamped on it. @rez let me know if you want it and whether you want to pick it up or need it posted.

Yeah I'm not sure to be honest, the parts diagrams list the uppers and lowers separately, but they are all part # 682025

I experimented with them when refitting my windscreen trim in the '77 244 as I wasn't sure if they were genuinely the same or just appeared to be, but the result was the same whichever way I arranged them.

Odd! Maybe they're close enough they decided to split the difference on the angle and change it to be a common part? :)

@carnut222 thanks so much for looking for me. I managed to find the damn piece yesterday in a box I’d already looked through twice!

I spent a bit of time trying to work out the upper and lower ones but worked out they were all the same too @jamesinc ?
