ok... I could care less what volvo calls it but thats a trans input speed sensor...

easily grabbed from toyota and then just get a shop to make a wiring adapter

You will have better luck finding this part in USA. More buyers there, more dealers, more parts able to be had

A bit annoying to discover that yet another 960 part has become NLA......

The AW-30-40 LE and AW30-43LE transmissions both use a p/n 3515641 sensor. This sensor is unique to these transmissions in the Volvo world.

IIRC, AW-30-40 LE and AW-30-43LE are both Volvo designations for what is basically an Asian Warner A340E transmission.

I may be wrong, but this sensor for an A340E transmission may be functionally and physically similar to the OE Volvo part, with the exception of the Volvo part's integral wiring harness . If so, you'd of course need to make up your own wiring harness from the sensor to the car's wiring harness.

If Mark knows about the available Toyota parts and there is a need he will get a harness adapter made I reckon, he is ro active in having the likes of auto cables fabricated for stock , we can only hope the boss gets on board

Mark kindly replied back to my email and they may very well have the part I need. I'm sort of acting as the middle man in the transaction between them and the local garage here. Hopefully it all works out and thank you all very much for your help.

I'm having quite a bit of trouble communicating with the shop that has my 960 here in the USofA. Mark from Berry Motor Group emailed me these three items, asking if one of them is what I'm looking for.

The top pic is a cam position sensor

The Middle pic is a Crank Sensor

I'm not sure what type of sensor the bottom one is.

The shop in the USA says I need an engine speed sensor which may be one of these just with a different name. I will appreciate them because I'll likely pay for international service on my phone and call Berry to make the order. Thank you all for your help!

Edit: I should have said right off the bat that I need this part to get my car out of "winter mode". Only 3rd and 4th gear in the automatic transmission are used when the car is in winter mode. I guess 1st and 2nd may slip the tires too much in the snow.

The part number which you have provided 3515641 points to the last shown sensor (the bottom one)

How did the mechanic arrive at the conclusion that this sensor is faulty? Have they diagnosed it?

The bottom one is the part you've requested it is the speed sensor fitted to the LH side of the 30/43 LE AISIN transmission.

I had a look at a customer's S90 a couple of days ago and it had the same setup. It's a 4 pin connector so you likely have to swap the other 2 pins over from the loom on your gearbox which is why there's 2 cut wires in the picture.

I'm not sure why the shop thinks that is the problem but they only work on Volvos, have been around for a long time and the head mechanic said that they did use the proper official Volvo tool to diagnose the car using this thing in the pic below. They could be totally wrong about the whole thing but I hope not. I personally can change simple things like tie rods, shocks/springs, u-joints etc. but all the electric stuff is Greek to me.
