52 yesterday and still think I'm 21 sometimes but the body says no no no ?

Ye age sucks , going into hospital 23rd August getting both knees total replacement, years of industrial fitting and early arthritis.

But need to get back out on the bikes again , so decided to retire early as well

Great website/tool actually. I used it a lot when I was looking for a learner bike and even more recently when I was debating a couple of other options in my head before I bought the Aprilia.

I've had a couple. Started with a CB250 1982, XJ650 Yamaha, Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans 3 (white) then I took a break for 10 years whilst the family sprouted. Then a Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans 3 (red), Moto Guzzi 750 Breva, 750 Ducati Paso, BMW R1150GS, Moto Guzzi 1200 Griso and now a Suzuki Bandit 1250

I sold my 2006 Aprilia RSV1000R last year (I still miss it) and bought myself a brand new Ducati Panigale V2 Bayliss.
The tech is amazing and, ergonomically, it just fits my long legs better.

But, I decided that I needed a project bike too. So, back in March, after some hunting, I brought home a complete and running (but very rough) 2000 Aprilia RS 125 (two stroke).

From there, the full strip down and nut-and-bolt rebuild commenced. Progress is slow but I'm getting the opportunity to learn things, try out new coating ideas and build out a late 90s - mid 00s 125cc racing (Moto3 in modern-speak) inspired bike.

There's a long way to go and I hope to have it finished mid next year.

I really wanted an RS250 but they're really expensive now. I hunted for a while with the the only criteria was that it had to be complete (or almost complete) and running.
This one was a couple of hours from home and fit the bill ok.

By Sunday evening I owned it for $100.

It’s a 1981 Kawasaki KLX250. They were notorious for being incredibly slow but handling beautifully.
This one has some electrical issues - the other side of the bike looks like something is learning how to make a wreath out of a rat’s nest.

Should be an amusing Vinduro bike once it is up and running.

Previous purchase has to go back to the end of last year… after driving to Melbourne’s outskirts to not buy a 2022 Sherco 125 (it was hammered and nothing like the description), I did a quick day trip to north of Coffs Harbour to buy this 2006 Husqvarna WR125.

Somehow didn’t take a single photo of it, but it now has new plastics, new tyres and a new piston… and has been ridden once.

Looking back at this post since it got a recent like from @AshDVS and I wrote that my next bike would be a KTM 1290 Super Duke and looks like my dreams came through.
