Coming back to this thread to share my new toy.
I've wanted a late Aprilia RSV1000R (preferably an RSV1000R Factory) for a little while and it had to be the last iteration before they moved to the RSV4, ie the very late Rotax twin rather than the newer V4.
This meant that it needed to be 2006-early 2010.
So, a couple of weeks back, a mate contacted me and mentioned that his nephew had just got his bike learners permit and asked if I might be keen on selling my 2014 Honda CBR1500R. I'd really planned on moving it on late this year or maybe early next but a painless sale to someone I know and not having random people coming to my house was pretty appealling. So, a price was negotiated, I organised a RWC and then i no longer had a bike.
I'd already been researching and looking at them and had a look at one before easter, at a dealer, so didnt mind going in and kicking tyres to have a proper look, have a sit on it, etc. The one at the dealer was a reasonable example, but at that point in time, I wasnt ready to hand over any cash.
With the Honda gone, I had a look at one last weekend. The one I looked at had been on Bikesales for a while and had been slowly coming down in price in recent months. The seller was genuine, the bike was the best example I've seen in the flesh, we did some polite negotiation and I handed over a deposit.
It isnt perfect but it is very good and I'll deal with the small cosmetic issues as I get to them (and once my bank account recovers).
So, I've ended up with this.... It's a 2006 Aprilia RSV1000R (but not a Factory).
The RSV1000R Factory gets more carbon parts, an Ohlins rear shock and forged OZ wheels.
The non Factory version is still very well spec'd, it has Ohlins forks but a Sachs rear shock. It gets aluminium wheels and no fancy carbon stuff.
If you're curious, full specs are here -
