Raebird Was looking through the forum and realised I didn’t start a thread for this thing. So I had been driving a ford courier dual cab auto 2.6 petrol for about 3yrs and got sick of it being so uncomfortable and industrial, I went in search of something that could haul stuff and was comfortable/had some luxuries, this car came up January 2021 with a busted gearbox (ermah gawd it had a dodgy gearbox and I still bought it). Apparently had the valve body replaced and the issue still wasn’t resolved, I tried replacing the solenoids but that didn’t fix the issue either, now I was on the search for a replacement gearbox and after about 6 months of searching a fellow Volvo enthusiast had advertised a 2002 AWD S60 that had a timing belt failure but was driving up until that point of failure so I purchased that for the gearbox and some other bits and bobs. Moving along to March this year I finally got around to swapping the “good” box into the XC which I managed to knock over in a weekend and fixed up a few other small issues until I got it registered June/July this year and have been driving it daily since then, it still needs some work as it is far from perfect but I am enjoying being back in something comfortable for my daily commute.
Raebird The plan from here is to keep tidying it up and probably lift it 2in and step up to a 2in taller all terrain tyre, but that will likely be next year sometime as I have other projects to focus on before starting another project ?.
rado Nice I've got the same , even same colour and bought it for the same purpose. Can't fault it so far ?

Dewolf Wake it up with a flash tune and get rid of the tq limiter. I’ve got an 06 XC70 that I tuned myself. Without the tq limiter it makes them a much better drive, or at least in my armchair expert opinion anyway ?

Dewolf I use a genuine Ktag to read and write using a cheap a$$ laptop. I get a bloke in the EU to write the tune. Charges about $110.00. Tell him what I want, and any mods done to the car. Always ask for a little extra fueling at the top end so it doesn't lean out. Never had a dude tune. I can use WinOLS, but I'm really not proficient with it.

How much learning do you need to implement the tune? Are they doing P3 models too?Cheers, Les
Dewolf What model P3 and which ecu? If you don't have the hardware, you can always pull the ecu and send it to me. You'll notice the difference immediately. Mid range torque is where the best improvement is, or least I feel it is. It's also better off the line because the tq limiter is gone. Just feels much more modern is the easiest way to explain it I guess.
Raebird I recently shortened the expected lifespan of the transmission by fitting large all terrain tyres!I also added an external trans cooler in a futile attempt to help it live as long as possible.Fitted a big LED light bar too!
