  • WTB: P80 V70/V70XC parts

I've recently bought a 1999 P80 V70XC to get on the road as a 2nd daily, and I am wanting a few parts to ''complete'' the car.

I am chasing

-V70XC grille (blue badge)

-good condition ashtray

-tailgate inner trim (dark grey)

-tailgate inner handle full assembly (dark grey)

-cargo cover in dark grey

-roof rail crossbars

-tow bar and wiring

-boot liner in dark grey, rubber preferred but a decent fabric one will do

Also would be interested in a mid or top tier fully functional OEM radio with code for p80 cars.

I am based in Melbourne, VIC. Let me know what you have.

Hi there Chris,

I can help with some of this.

I'm in the middle of a V70 restoration as well, though mine is a 1997 V70T5

My parts car has a Hayman Reese style towbar and, in amongst my boxes of leftover plastic parts, I'll have an ashtray.

For the the boot liner, you'll struggle to find a genuine Volvo one but a T31 Nissan XTrail one is a nice substitute and works with minor modification. You'll likely find one via a wrecker or perhaps ebay.

Boot liner I have never seen or heard of for any P80 anywhere in the world.

As for radio, they are very old , a double DIN Pioneer or Alpine is best replacement, when the Alpine made Volvo HU goes bad it's not worth repair.

Look closely at your automatic gearbox and have it serviced carefully as it's the start of the Volvo fragile boxes..... .

The cargo liners do exist, @rado has one and I had one in my 850 way back when. They're very expensive when they come along and they dont come along too often.

Hi there, I have an OEM radio unit that can have for free if you’re in Melbourne & want to swing by to pick it up?

I also ‘discovered, a silver V70 bring wrecked in Coolooroo, again in Melbourne, that seems to have all of yours parts.

Let me know if you’re interested ?

Ah, really? I thought you had one. I must have been thinking of someone else.

I went out to grab some parts off that one yesterday. Man, that was that yard a sketchy experience! I didnt get too much from it, it's been well picked over already.

I grabbed the glovebox bin, one of the interior grab handles, grey seat rail covers and the fusebox bracket from the LH strut tower.

It still had the towbar present, dash had mostly been stripped, though random parts were strewn through it so the ashtray might have been there somewhere, didnt have a cargo cover but the tailgate trim was there and may come up ok with a scrub. carpet floor mats were there but largely covered in CV joint grease. I dont think the radio as in the car, but as it was a 2.5 N/A it'd likely be single CD rather than the 3 stacker (SC900 or SC901).

Definitely worth digging through for smaller parts but be prepared for it to be a small haul.

What a coincidence! I was thinking of grabbing the rear seats & seatbelts for the hatchback area for no other reason other than the carpet is in better condition than mine! I don’t know if I can be bothered going back out there though…

I couldn’t remember if the dashtop was still there though so I’m glad that you could confirm.

Good luck with the rest of your build - I look forward to the updates on your thread!

Cheers @GeorgeVolvo , We'll have to grab a coffee and compare notes/compare cars/share some of the experiences with getting them over the line at some point in future.

I think that if I could get three full weekends worth of time, I'd be ready to get it RWCed and registered. Bodywork is finished for the moment, the interior is quite close and I'm about halfway through the key maintenance items. Aside from that, it's front suspension and brakes left to do.

Post registration, there'll be a small 'outstanding items' left to get through.

How much modding is involved with the T31 X Trail liner? My car is far from immaculate so a cheaper functional solution will do me just fine.

I believe my car has the AW42, hopefully not as bad as the dreaded AW55

The early 5sp autos were as bad as the next ones. Not generally repairable at all iirc whereas the later ones are if you want to spend cash on an old car.

Treat it to a specialist transmission shop visit for service/advice.

                Manual conversion is possible.

That sounds awesome Ash, I’d love to check it out in person. Hopefully it’s ready in the warmer months & we can meet up for a coffee/beer & compare a 10/10 to a 6/10 ?
