A few years back, I made a rule for myself with projects:
If I haven't actively worked on it for 12 months or thought positively & constructively about it in 3 months (whichever comes first) then it is time to move it on.
It took me ages to figure it out, but I've never regretted selling anything that's failed this test. If anything, the time-frames are too long - 6 months/8 weeks seems to be more like it.
