CamZH;31424 wroteyeah, the 850 sure does have 5.25" up front, with non 90deg spaced mounting points.
getting to the speakers is rather easy.
6-6.5" in the rear again with the funky mounting points.
going to have a look at that long thread you've posted. cheers !
No probs, good luck with it.

94_850_t5;31443 wrote@Phonsa - You asked how the 6 puck clutch was going. It's not! I couldn't put up with it any longer. Would drive me nuts in traffic, especially as I've been making regular trips through Sydney. Fitted the R series clutch which feels like heaven in comparison. :-) Will have to put that one aside for a track car.
Because racecar! LOL well i hope the R clutch holds the power for you without slippage?
Rob
'R' clutches are incredibly good apparently.
AshDVS
R clutch is VERY good and can withstand a heap of abuse above stock power levels.

^ Yep , mucho power with an R clutch.
phonsa
This is promising news, i have the genuine 'R' clutch kit part no. 272218 made in Slovakia on the shelf with the machined single mass and release bearing.

BONUS! How much was it by the way? I know not cheap but worth it.

I brought it over a year ago from Tascaparts in the US, for about $330 AUD delivered to door inc oem rear main seal. That was when the AUD was above parity 1.03-104 cents i think.

^ I had the regular sized ones of those on my 850R
Never had any issues with cracking, as seems to be an issues with cross drilled.
I think I saw you on wednesday evening heading south on Pennant Hills road at Pennant Hills...

That's good news, I have great experiences with DBA rotors so sticking with them.
Yep that was me, work at Masters Home improvement along city view road.

Rotors arrived yesterday they are massive compared to stock, fantastic quality.
Off to the machine shop for modification.

Hey Phons, How's the S70 going? any new mods or upgrades?
phonsa
Good to hear from you again!
The S70 is going well, i haven't installed the XR5 BBK yet.
I plan on doing the LED instrument cluster lights swap and replacing the tired firewall upper engine and lower transmission torque rod in the coming weeks.
Apart from that shes singing along nicely.
Hows your 850 going? The Owens turbo going strong?
94_850_t5
Cool, that XR5 BBK looks like it would make a fair amount of difference. Does the hub diameter of the disks you purchased match or do they need to be machined out to fit the s70 hub?
I did something silly and fitted an engine torque damper a few weeks ago but the way it amplified that 5 cylinder growl though the firewall was ridiculous. I had to remove it after a couple of days.
The Owen turbo is great, I just love driving this old girl. No complaints about the turbo at all!
The challenge I have at the moment is to improve the handling at higher speed, tends to feel a little light.
I've just installed a set of camber adjustment bolts and adjusted for max negative camber. Definitely an improvement but still not perfect. For some reason the feel of the s/v70 steering is more akin to what I want so I'm probably going to do a steering rack swap and see how things go.
Happy modding!
Rob
brakes rotors do need to be machined out a little. it is a great yet simple upgrade. super happy with mine.

Light steering may be a pump issue. The rack is the same throughout the P80 platform (as far as I know)
On our car, a new pump gave some more positive steering feel (pump had a leak would airate the fluid), though we replaced the rack too (due to a leak).
Which upper mount did you use?
Rob
AWD rack is different to FWD rack. Internally and functionally they are the same (as far as I can tell) but the AWD rack has the engine mount cut off the top..

I think the XR5 Rotors need to be bored out a further 2mm from memory and those awesome brackets from Ash (DVS) to mount up.
Great to hear that Owens Turbo was a great investment! What PSI are you pushing it to?
I agree with Ash as i also had that light steering feel on the C70 but it was more pronounced at lower speeds.
Swapping out the PS pump fixed that annoying groan and tighten up the steering feel.
