itzchimpy Not anything like corroded contact points on the MAF? Mine had the same exact symptoms, and I spent a while diagnosing, until I saw the pins on the MAF were green, some 200 grit and worked good as new
No the MAF pins are fine.
update though. So inspected the fuel pressure at idle, nice and steady, no fluctuations, no moisture in the vacuum reference line.
Swapped in a brand new wideband oxy sensor. No change.
noticed a pattern perhaps, the car tends to stall when the clutch is pushed prior to moving off (eg at the lights). Noticed the the clutch fork was pushing lightly at full extension on the wires to the idle motor. Checked them between the IAC motor and the ecu pins and no problem…
Next step, Cam Lucas has kindly loaned a 960 MAF for testing. The one in the car was quite oily for some reason (not using a wet filter, so maybe PCV blow back). I cleaned it but the damage may have been done
