^ Yup. Thats correct.
The difference is quite noticable, particularly I think, on a lowered car.
I was VERY excited to come across mine even though it is rather ordinary.

Looks like an interesting project.
The themostat stuck on the S40 freaked me out big time, also the temp sensor there went nuts. Are there any inherant problems around that spot?

Yeah , I know but it had to go and stay 90km down on the coast so its a bit more of a hassle. The rav is awd when needed like full Monty take offs he is apt to do now and again but it actually isn't rated to tow much.....

From the walk around inspection I got over the phone my wagon has the bits needed and I will consider WRX clutch coupling to replace the viscous one , bro in law is playing with them for his Toyota powered Triumph Spitfire , that's if its in need of fixing.May as well eliminate a weak link and also even second hand the vc diff will be too dear.

We should ask Ash to put a cam angle tool on his laser cutting thread , it would be cool with etched angles and degrees on it.
Japan is a closer source for manifolds , must shoot Calvin a PM , he may still be there or can get a mate to look?

What are the rods you have? i'd reckon they would be right.

pre 2000 use 139.5mm rods, post 2000 use 143mm rods.

I bought them for 2.3 motor now I will use them in 2.5 I need to check , I don't think the stroke was altered.

Double check but I would be 99.9% certain they are correct.

Think the 2.5 is a long stroke, 2.4 vs 2.3 are the bore difference.

Pre 2001ish
(a) 2.3 (2319cc) engine is B5234 and uses 139.5mm rods and 81mm bore
(b) 2.5 (2435cc) engine is B5254 and uses 139.5mm rods and 83mm bore

Post 2001ish
(c) 2.4 (2435cc) engine is B5244 and uses 139.5mm rods and 83mm bore
(d) 2.5 (2521cc) engine is B5254 and uses 143mm rods and an 83mm bore

as you can see the early 2.5 (b) is essentially the same engine as the late 2.4 (c) they just rounded the capacity the other way.

Yep , thanks Rob , I thought it was like that , it didn't click the was they did the post 2001s though. That layer 2.4 or even the 2.5 is what we want for the better head , hell , even the head into our engines is a great thing.

Mate at other end will bring half way when he gets weekend free but has children visit one and the next trains parents in making muical instrument for the child to play in school (Steiner School) so this may take longer....

I cant wait to start ripping out the interior! Clean , repair dash mounts modify. Get a set of black charcoal carpets too , i must remember that....
The RHS has a bit of scratching AFAIK so my two doors on the V70T will swap in for now as they are not perfect.
My ultimate goal is a recolour in Lazer Blue but thats a lot of time and some $$
Am interested at what you come up with for suspensionon the CXC70R.....

Yeah ... laser blue is nice. I would probably choose blue colour had I have been buying a new one at the time but I don't think I would change yours... It looks good.
