Depends on getting a tow car and a trailer....Have set a week or two as the goal , my wagon will not be good towing another one...
Ex850R
Small update , i spoke to mate who has the car (parked very badly by the towie , hugh wasnt home when it arrived....So bad he has to do the limbo sideways to get to his front door...)
On a walkaround at 1am this morning with a torch , he confirmed that there is a scrape starting at front right door handle to just before taillight and i have two pretty good doors to swap in so if it doesnt polish out thats good , it may need a good buff ner the back , hoping its not paint off.
Front and rear bar and generally all over light scratches should polish ok.
My V70 has newly painted front bar so thats a swap.
Inside , well , the inside smells , it smells and it smells of he doesnt know what!
they had 8 children and the car sat for 12 months , probably used for playing in by said children....
No biggie , i am putting all black 850R interior and charcoal S70T5 door cards in.
The R seats i will clean as i have an upho;stry wet / dry vac.
Tyres are differing front to back which can harm the AWD rear viscous coupling , it may not even have a tailshaft and is FWD , yet to find out....
Subaru clutch pack rear diff can be put in place of the viscous one and then only front anglegear from later S60R to fix a weak one they put in as STD.
Foglihghts are good , windscreen OK (in the dark with torch...)
confusion over what their mechanic did when first blew the cam belt as they said it turns over but low compression on one pot. Now did he fix things up without pulling head ? What damage to one pot if valves and piston came together? Its a mystery.
Now to get it home , or to get Hugh into investigative mode and look at the motor for me or pull it out for him to rebuild it with some nice mods like I beam rods i have sitting on shelf......
Leave motor in SA , bring car here and put V70T donk in it with R turbo etc , would make for nice power /torqs!
Here we go here we go here we go o!

Oi, oi, oi...

Doesn't sound that bad, just like a bit of a neglected basket case, which is perfectly ok.
Mine needs/needed both front guards, bonnet, both RH doors and a significant repair to the LH quarter.
Swapping the front bar over?
Your car has the standard front bar and this should have the V70R front bar? They are a bit different.
I'd simply load it onto a tandem and bring it home.
How much of a hurry are you in to move it?
Ex850R
I don't see much of a difference with the front bar , once the fog lights and trim is in no one would really know. It doesn't worry me , the bar was done as part of a insurance claim when woman grazed the mirror guard ,bar so its shmick maate.
Can't tow it back with wagon ,need to get bro-inlaw with 4wd out of his deep depression to do the trip....Mind you I did tow my old work trailer full of stainless bench , pipe stands and equipment boxes with my 850R wagon , didn't like it though ....
Would love to have it now so I can slowly swap and pull it apart.
I should get the 850 parts car out this week off to the crusher.

A bent valve is not a new motor. Smelly cars usually spell a water leak.

Just pay the 50 or so for a tow truck?

Depends if they smell of stale water or previous owners with poor personal hygiene I guess. ;)
My T5 was the later. ew!

Fark. $50 for a tow truck from SA to VIC is a sweet deal! Where do I sign up?
Ex850R
Previous owners .
The heater matrix can leak , sometimes in a flodd that causes head gasket to go . .
These whiteblocks are so easily damaged by cooling issues. Thermostats can be damaged , usually the culprit if the engine takes ages to warm up. I pulled out my S70T5 one and it was jammed! I have seen this in another car. Luckily it wasn't a head gasket in those cases.
I always pay $100 around town for tow.
