Europe has same spacing as us, but some radios end at 104 MHz, but others 108. eBay's got some options.

He probably means AM.
AM is spaced 9 kHz in Aust, there is a usable frequency evey 9 kHz (so every station frequency is divisable my 9)
USA is spaced at 10.
2CH in Sydney would work on his radio at 1170 :-)

He means both. Both AM and FM are different - US spec radios do 200 kHz hops on FM, and not 100 kHz.

The 10 kHz hops on AM of this radio are quite annoying.

As for 2CH being the only station to tune correctly, I'd rather leave the radio switched off and listen to the exhaust!

Isn't there a dude we know that does am/FM retrofit into old radios and DAB as well or am I dreaming.

^ Yeah, sort of, that's Craig R from the SA club - he replaces the tape players in these old decks with a USB module for connecting iPods, etc.

Which is the plan for the replacement deck I'm hoping to buy.

If you can get internet then why not just a digital device , allocate buttons on a radio (guy in SA)

Maybe screen print or laser a front plate design that you want?

I was hoping to get one so I could send it to Craig for conversion....

I also figured if Mark had one, he would've piped up by now.

I have a TD-6141 but it has'nt been tested. If you want, I am looking for the TD-6146.

Maybe we could trade? Just a thought, but I am in the US. Let me know?

beez - The US spec radios are different from OZ-spec radios.

OZ-spec AM jumps in 9 kHz steps, not 10 kHz
OZ-spec FM jumps in 100 kHz steps, not 200 kHz
de-emphasis for FM is also different, but let's not get into that....

I had a TD-6146 in my ex-US market 780 (1 of the 2 in OZ) and couldn't tune it in to most of the stations I wanted to listen to, so Craig Rasmussen (SA Volvo Club) swapped the 6146's faceplate onto a CR-825 (i.e. OZ-spec CR-815).

AFAIK, the TD-6141 and 6146 are the same (Alpine) unit with a different faceplate. Do you need the 6146's faceplace for fitting into a 780? My 6146 now has the 825 faceplace on it - 825s were standard OE on 940s here.
