  • M46 Bushing – Locally sourced??

Hi all,

I'm looking for some replacement shifter bushings for a M46, and was curious as to if theres somewhere within AUS that could supply them?

IPD sell STSMachining bushings, although I didn't know this when I placed my order for some other shifter bots and pieces and cant justify paying 100$+60$ shipping.

Any advice would be appreciated, cheers

pfa (the stsmachining bushings mentioned above)

I can get the genuine bushings (rubber and plastic) for you

I used to machine my own from self lubricating nylon...but I don't have a lathe any more.

You can get them from STS Machining directly for a bit less https://www.stsmachininginc.com/collections/test-240/products/m46-m47-bronze-shifter-bushings-240-740-volvo

They're worth it IMO

I just recieved my set this week to go in my 75 244, they are very well made, and this is my 3 set, fitted 1 my 87 740t and the other in my 80 242gt, the kit remarkably improves shift quailty.

This set could me $132aud delievered.

Sorry for a basic question but does this sort of bushing just help with wobble left and right when in a gear or something else? Mines not too bad I don't think but a more positive gear selection would definitely be nice.

It firms it up in all directions. Left right wobble can sometimes be due to the bushings between the shift rod and the shaft that runs into the gearbox as well.

Nice one, sounds like a worthy upgrade, thanks for the info!

Makes the shift feel like a rifle bolt instead of a spoon in porridge..

I've just purchased a set, thanks for all the feedback! I definitely think it will be worthwhile.
