Howdy folks, just wanted some opinions/experience regarding this product i am interested in

https://shop.klracing.se/sv/artiklar/volvo-240_740_940-8v-turbogrenror.html

this is KL Racing's cheaper 8v turbo manifold. Unlike the Ebay variants which it looks similar to the flange gives the spark plug wires space to come through - therefore no flange flipping required. This is going to be part of a turbo setup in the future for my red wagon.

anyone used this manifold? I emailed KL Racing and they said their Extreme T3 Manifold (more expensive, longer tube manifold) doesn't fit RHD 240s, but they don't know whether this cheaper one will or not.

Cheers

It will not fit RHD cars.

Damn. Any idea if there are tubular manifolds out there that do?

I'd simply have a decent exhaust/fab specialist make one up instead.

They do fit if they are the same as the eBay ones. But you will need to modify your water pump outlet.

Not everyone has the money to pay for a custom fabricated exhaust manifold (min 1200). I know I don't!

They definitely look like they’ll clear the steering shaft; just worried about alternator and water pump

Any ideas on How I would need to modify the water pump outlet ?

I was using a ebay manifold of the same design. They foul on the hose near water pump outlet. It will eventually burn through the hose. I placed an insulating pad between the manifold and the hose but it was dodgy. Eventually went back to the cast iron manifold.

KL Racing suggest the welding of an aluminium extension pipe onto the water pump. This requires both the removal of the water pump and the welding process. I thought about using a pipe bender to create more space. But the cheap manifold was beginning to crack anyway so I didn't bother.

It may be a good idea to co-ordinate a group buy to generate economies of scale. If someone was making up 10 custom manifolds i expect the price for each would be much cheaper and there may be more competition for the job.

That’s great info mate, thanks for letting us know. I might ask around with fabricators in terms of doing a group buy.

I've been looking at these diy kits from treadstone for my 3sgte

Steam pipe bends can be purchased locally. The only fittings that may need to be purchased is the flange and 4-1 collector.

I just got a custom T3 one made at a local fabricator. I didn't ask about getting more made at the time but I could ask. I thought it might get murky with different turbos and wastegates etc. making fitment issues.

Adaptors can always deal with fitment issues. Looks like quality work.

I would consider shrouding those brake lines

For sure. Those pics were taken during but now there's wrap and shielding for the poor clutch and brakes.

This workshop also make different sized CNC merge collectors (T3, T4 etc. with or without a gate) and a fancy redblock 8v manifold flange if you wanted to weld your own. It blends from the square 8v port to the round tube. Too nice for my car but they made it anyway.

Lovely! What do they charge for the nice machines flange and the collectors? All up price for what you have up to turbo hotside?

I loved having the turbo forward and up. So much easier to work on. If we can get a manifold at a reasonable price i am all in. The KL racing upward and forward manifold is 2395Kr ($376) and their 8v Extreme T3 is 3895Kr ( $612). I think something of quality in the range of $700 would interest many.
