Cheers man.

I obsessed over wheel width and offset before I ordered them as I wanted to get an 18" wheel and a decent sized tyre on it.

The FWD cars have a narrower rear track than the AWD cars and I liked the look of pushing the rear wheels outward a little - previously on my last V70 and, prior to that, my old 850T5, I ran rear spacers and extended wheel bolts (I dont do spacers with studs pressed into them). As I was having wheels made to spec anyway, I ordered these from Koya made to exactly what I wanted.

So, ET36, will give me a 12mm wider track width, than I'd have had with ET42 wheels all round.

You could also increase rear track using a set of C70 trailing arms.

ET60 wheel +20mm spacer gives you a net offset of ET40 (you'll need wheel bolts that are +20mm as well).

It's weird like you say most FWD cars are wider at the front . Saying that though tt quattro is wider at the front . I too obsessed with wheels before I bought the wheels for the tt . I really wanted a staggered set 9 rear and 8.5 fronts but you have to get the tyres spot on not to upset the Haldex . So I went with 8.5 all round

As You can hopefully see the rears could still come out a little more and obviously a 1" drop wouldn't go a miss . Anyways , hopefully the volvo will be cool on the 18s but undecided on tyres , I like a bit of stretch so been thinking 215 40 18 ..

I've seen 18x8 ET40 on 850s all round before - looks quite good.

I had 18x8.5 ET40 and 235 40 18 on my Focus - I just couldnt get them on the V70 and have the clearance I wanted.

TT looks great though. I'm a massive fan of them. Since I probably cant afford a 70s-80s 911, a TT might be on the horizon at some point.

I can not fault a mk1 tt . Took it for a blast this morning and it puts a silly smile on my face , it eats round a bouts lol . 3rd mk1 now .

Now that's weird you say 911 ! 2006 I was offered an 87 guards red turbo t top ( this has always been my dream car for a Long time ) for £9k as was living in UK but it was a left hooker so turned it down and bought a Corrado vr6 and a motor bike instead . Man , big mistake lol

I've always wanted a late 70s/early 80s 911 - its even really hard to justify the price tag of a rough one, but I just love the shape and the styling.

Early TTs are pretty cool too I think, so maybe thats the 911 substitute?

Totally agree . Those prices are observed. Lotto win maybe .

People shake their heads at the badge but I don't care , dark now but just taken a couple of pictures , lol

Even Porka badges are silly prices

Plastic water pump model?, If so you know the drill ?

She's been good Jimbo , had it 7 years now at 80ks and changed everything ie belts w pump etc and now on 111k . Going strong , apart from the usual bloody pixels in the dash . Poor design

My Octavia RS went in for water pump and thermostat housing replacement last year under warranty. Crappy design but on the plus side, I didnt have to do it or pay for it myself. It's out of warranty now so if it decides to call it quits again, it's on me.

OK guys obviously not everyone is a lover of aftermarket wheels on the 850 then ? I was struck on LMs for a long time ...

Now obviously that car is on coilovers with that kind of stance . Then I stumbled upon a picture, a kind member here sent me a better picture

These are bbs monaco , I love them as they (to me) look like Volans

    18 x 8 5 x 108 but ET 60 so 20mm spacers

Been emailing a company in the UK as they are Jaguar wheels to buy a new set and was all set then all went quite a week ago . Looking at the website it says he's on holiday . Ffs I thought, he could have said he's going away as he said talk tomorrow with exact figures then like I said Nada for over a week now ! I'm in two minds atm to trust this company now if he does get back to me . Common courtesy springs to mind . I don't know . Any thoughts ?

Look at Jag rims here, my set fill out the guess admirably.

Damn centre caps are small so ordered from Dave Barton some Kool stickers, trouble is they are going through EVERY mail centre in USA!

I reckon if you start asking the right groups they will be there , such peeps that buy such cars dont sell cos they need to and keep them but when pushed do.

Actually sat in front of the laptop and been looking for a couple of hours now , found another firm that sell new one's in usa but shut on saturdays ......... I wouldn't know who are the Right groups are ?

Just sent another email to the UK firm and just got a reply , now iv'e just copied the reply .............

        Hi Steve

        OK changed the title ?

        What tires/ tyres are you running on your 18 x 8 ?

Apparently Bridgestone wear out quickly, but I'm a sucker for em .

        What's your choice guys ?

        More pictures the better ?

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 in 225/40/18

I've also got Federal Evoluzion ST1 on my Octavia RS in 225/35/19 - for their price point, they're surprisingly very good.

The only tyre I rode and felt good on a motorcycle was Michelin , but Bridgestone on a car . Maybe worth a change. .

Anyone running 215 , tiny bit of stretch

The pilot sport 4 have a squarer case so less obvious stretch than other brands in that size.

I run 215/40r18 on 8s and they're a perfect fit, I think 215s are more expensive than the 225s though

        They're an excellent tyre

I run 215's on 8's as well, perfect fit if you are lowering the car, anything wider will rub

        @timbo

Con you put some pictures up sometime please . I've not seen 215 on 18x8 yet
