The strangest 850 2.5 20V Engine ever (I'm confused!)

Looks like a blown hg due to to a combination of issues.

Ex850R

Front 'A' arms if good bushes.
Front struts if you want coilovers made from then sometime.
Shockers if newish.
The fuel...,
Inlet Mani if a 20 valve .
Front seats if in top nick , Alex can make adapter runners for older cars.
Steering wheel , maybe.
Front seat belts if good incl the actuator pre tensioner system.
Headlights.
Radiator if good.
Cat converter its worth money.
O2 sensor if good.
How good are the tyres? I may need em!?
I will have the auto antenna if good , I gave mine to Rob for his C70R and now my missus cars is busted! FFS....
The heater fan , the core if known newish?
Grille if good.
Bit of work and a bit of starage space needed but , that's all I took off my one.

No idea about the condition of the suspension, had no knocks or rattles on the way home...
Will drain the tank and leave about 5 or 10L in it to keep it running :P
Ill probably leave the inlet manifold mainly because I can't be stuffed removing it and its easier to give the wreckers a running car than a non running one.
Front seats are fairly terrible.
I think the belts are good.
Lights are good
Radiator I think is okay
Ill see if I can remove the cat converter
O2 sensor is probably shot, if it wasn't before the drive home it would be by now haha, the car has both a service light and an engine warning light so something is wrong with it...
Tyres are good, apparently they are fairly new, the wheels are also in good nick.
Auto antenna works perfect
Those two things require much more disassembly than I can be stuffed with lol

Inlet Mani is an easy removal and used to upgrade turbo motors with the bigger throttle body. Worth money.
Heater motor is easy as you just rip the fuck outta the dash on the lhs , wearing eye protection and gloves and unbolt it. Same for dash top to get the instrument cluster. Cat converter just jack up car , get reciprocal saw onto pipe , done.
Water pump newish? Incl belts and pulleys with it? If good or recent on the service record pull them too , worth it. PCV done recently on service? Pull it and hoses. When you take off inlet Mani its under it.
What sort of tyres?
How much for antenna?
If you have space , take off a good guard or door maybe? Probably not worth it , nobody wants 850 parts like that , nobody....
Get scrappy to pick up and give you , what , $50??
It cost me $70 for trailer , got $84.64 at Sims Metal for car without engine , wheels and front guards cos I forgot em :D made a profit!!
Although I did buy a can of Passiona , that cut into the profit margin....

no idea about the condition of any of that stuff (pump, pcv etc), the last service was like 3 years ago.

Tyres are: 165/60R15's all round

No space so not worth it haha.
Most scrappies have offered me a fair bit more than that for essentially a shell, my old Eunos 500 didn't run and I scrapped that for $200, no lights, engine not running, most of the interior was shredded. They basically paid money for the shell haha.

They're actually pretty expensive for what they are...
Im just gonna ditch it and stick with my V70 until I find something else (I might not even bother)

Pick A Part, they say they don't sell unroady tyres but they know me by name down there (thanks to the Terrible Telstar I was there every week), so trust me, they probably will if I ask nicely :)

Ah yeah, if you want to come on Sunday thats cool. I suppose I should at least find out whats wrong with it. The diagnosis Ive given it so far is "Its fucked"

Bit of a bump but thought I'd mention it.

So today I removed the rubber pipes between the inlet mani and the air cleaner box from the 850 to put on the V70 (as the V70s had holes in it), I also swapped the distributors.

I noticed that my 850's inlet manifold was full of oil:

It doesn't look that bad here I guess, but a lot of oil drained out, the rubber pipes were full, it had even gotten into the air filter box itself. In my opinion it looks like its coming from that small tube to the right of the throttle. That was COVERED in oil. But Ive now removed that and when running the car, the smoke is a little better but that thing isn't spitting out any oil... So i don't get where its all coming from!

I bought a 240 once from @paul0075 that was not running very well. It turned out to be a case of the breather box becoming so epically blocked (thanks to I think Dubbo mechanics who had no idea how to service the PCV) that blow-by had blown out one of the valve stem seals and was letting oil into the bore. About $100 of seals and gaskets and PCV bits and a few hours of labour rebuilding the valvetrain and it was good as new!

Mine might be the same thing. The 850 will run terribly when you start it (because of oil build up) and then once it clears it won't smoke and will run nice again until it warms up and will start running badly again, smoking and running on 3 or 4 cylinders...

Okay guys so I'm done and dusted with the 850, just going to be cleaning it up and getting all my crap out of it before I send it off to the scrapyard, so final call for any parts is open, still has pretty much complete interior (crap seats though), all electrics are there except for one power window reg. most of the body panels are okay on it except for the drivers side stuff. Im aiming to get it gone by the end of the week so now's your chance!

Rear springs if not sagged. I should a pulled em off the 850 I crushed. Am even looking for and there one cheap to get parts off!

Car still runs and drives, albeit not very well. Stabiliser bar on the front not connected so the wheels are no longer straight. I would imagine that the front suspension is no good, it came off the V70 and was shot. I do believe the lower control arms are okay though because those things never break.

Rear springs are fine I was considering swapping the V70s but not much point really and too much effort lmao.

The cap/rotor/wires are okay, they also came off the V70. Had a fair amount of wear on the metal contacts but it still ran.
