I had a bit of a chuckle when I saw this, I work on a lot of Peugeot's and I can say from experience that the French give absolutely no consideration to ease of repair when designing engines!
Seeing pics of your engine remind me of when I used to help my father repair those engines when I was a teenager, there aren't many left now, and people who are willing to work on them are even rarer.
Re: my PM earlier, it looks like a four cylinder plug for the dizzy end of the cable won't work, they're a different design, the connector for the other end should be identical though.
I do know where there is a 264 in a wreckers near here, I could get the dizzy cheaply, but I don't know when I'll next be going there.
