While the bigger bits bubble away in the background and while driving a car around with no bonnet, headlights or front bumper is frowned upon, I've been getting little detail stuff done.
Continuing with getting the front end all put back together, I wanted to get the scuttle panel/cowl panel put back on it, wipers back on it, etc, etc.
The scuttle panel from my car was covered in primer and paint overspray which, for the life of me, I couldnt clean/scrub off, so I removed the one from my parts car. I cleaned and scrubbed it and fitted it, along with a pair of Do88 silicone drain hoses.
The wiper arms were in the same state as well, so in the bin they went, in favour of replacements from the parts car. I cleaned these up, fitted some new wiper blades and got it all back together.
Engine bay still needs a bit more of a clean but its coming along alright.
Today, I ventured out to the Jolly's self-serve wreckers in Ringwood (VIC) and scavenged a few minor bits and pieces from a 1999 V70T they had sitting in their yard.
It'd been pretty thoroughly picked over already, including by some ozvolvo members (seriously, there should be stickers to slap on wrecks at self serve wreckers to let the brethren know when one of us has been there before), but I still managed to pick up a few bits and pieces that I needed, as well as some little oddities as well.
The cargo area plastic trim in my car was missing a couple of little covers that hide the mounting hardware and probably also where some other accessory that I dont have goes on some models - my original beige interior plastics were a bit different so these werent present/required, meaning I couldnt even paint the beige ones to suit.
Those found their way into my little parts haul.
My weird score of the day were B pillar alarm sensors. Every car I've ever seen has a plug that goes nowhere under a blank cover at the top of the B pillar trim; my 97 V70T5, the 98 V70T parts car I have, a 96 850R I got some trim parts from and both my previous V70T5s (a 97 and a 98), my previous 97 S70T5 and even my old 95 850T5, way back when. I'd always wondered what went here. Now I know.
Here's what they look like from the back -
And for comparison -
Other than that, I grabbed a steering column top cover and a couple of rubber stoppers for under the bonnet. Hopefully more substantial updates will follow.
