I was able to spend some more time on the V70 this weekend and get a few things ticked off the to-do list.
I finally grabbed a new Genuine Volvo drivers window switch pack via @iceton1975 on Friday night on the way home as I was desperate to get a drivers side door trim in it over the weekend as it has genuinely been about 12 months since the car has had one and the interior is SOOO close to being done, I was keen to get it off the list.
With that out of the way, I wanted to get some progress made on the body so I started fitting the late 'chunky' style roof rails. I'm still missing one end trim piece so got the LH side fully done. The RH side can wait a little longer.
I was fairly happy with how it came out and figured I'd next try to tidy up the engine bay. With a lot of the paint issues sorted, the engine bay was still a mess with some primer overspray, cutting compound runoff and dirty water, etc. It had really been annoying me as it'd previously been so clean. So, rather than have it irk me any further, I gave it a scrub.
Next up was to remove the front bar and headlights so that I could test fit the V70R front bar before starting on swapping my freshly painted front guards over.
And... V70R front bar in place -
It lines up well. No issues with gaps, etc.
Of course, here's the solution to headlight wiper holes -
Next up was to remove the front guards and give the car a wash, wash out any gunk from under the guards and get things clean, ready to go back together.
I degreased and pressure washed under the guards and all the spaces typically covered by bumper and guards. Guards, bumper and lights removed, before a wash.
Once I finished, I got to work on making up the wiring harnesses to go from GM side indicator plugs to deustch connectors.
Fitted off the body end, tested it to confirm all worked as expected and sprayed some more body deadener over some of the weld seams before fitting the new guard.
Fitted the newly painted guard. I also bought two new genuine volvo guard moulding trims and had those painted at the same time, so fitted the one to the LH guard while I was getting things together.
I'll get the LH skirt and front mudflap on it in the next couple of days.
I like the GM side marker, it's simple and a little more modern than the rectangular original one, but isn't different enough to look out of place.
