The Americans don't use diesels either. .
Are we going to start growing up or should we just turn this into a holden v ford site. Seriously its a volvo and its an XC90 so at the end of the day its not going to be anything to rave about.
He means American review sites will never favour a diesel because Americans tend to dislike diesel engines.

thanks for making the obvious obvious while neglecting the fact that it was a worldwide review and that is before getting to the recall data and australian sites. Bottom line is there is no empirical data to suggest that the 3.2 is "total crap" and that the D5 is adonis.

Don't bother replying I really couldn't care and the email notifications are really annoying.
And now, back to the studio...
If only there was some way to turn them off?
So, coming back to the OPs question, pickings are a bit slim on Carsales compared with what there has been.

You should be able to get a V50 with 120,000 or less and probably under 100,000 km for your budget. If well maintained you should get a good run out of one like this.

XC90s for your money tend to be high kms if diesel or V8. Can be OK if highway driving and well looked after however a 2.5T is probably more realistic. Just be aware the gearbox on these can be a risk, but less so than the T6.

As a (semi-retired) Volvo master mechanic... I'll note that I spent on way way more hours working on 3.2's than v8's at a dealership that sold more v8's than 3.2's

Most of the customers never saw just how much shit I had to fix on every single service on the 3.2 under warranty
I nearly always fought for 3.2 cards because I could ALWAYS find something major on them that turned a (from flat rate perspective) money losing service into a full days work
When they went out of warranty they would come back once, get one massive bill and then be traded in on something else in warranty and the dealer would flog the 3.2 off at auction

The 6 speed auto in the XC90 is universally solid regardless of what engine is behind it
The 3.2 does not out right fail, it just munches itself to pieces taking along everything around it
Good XC90 pickings are getting slim as heck at the moment
INS is probably going to write off mine (economic) after the recent rear-ending by the rav4 (rav 4 turned out to be a write off as well as it cracked the engine block)

I am digging around for a nice v8 and finding not much... I may yet end up with a D5 again just because of availability
That's sad your xc will be written off, was it really bent that badly?
Yeah I checked the other day and the V8s are really thin on the ground! Happens I guess when they weren't sold for long and are a great car!

I'm glad I picked mine up when I did. Sad to hear yours is being written off. I thought the worst when Skippy jumped into the side of mine but I'll just need a respray down one side and a new mirror. Although the mirror alone was enough for the excess!!

Nice V70 for sale at car nation autos just saw the ad on gumtree car is in maidstone Victoria might be a good option for you.
We do the rego checks for our local volvo dealer and so far this year they have replaced 6 of the t6 engines due to various issues ranging from timing chain failure to excessive oil consumption
