A little about me, I'm currently living in Dubbo for work but I'm originally from Melbourne and actually went to university with @Ghettobird who's entirely responsible for me buying this car. I've been driving some pretty uninspiring cars the past few years and have been looking for something that falls into a nice compromise between performance and practicality. I saw this 850R pop up on eBay and it reminded me of how much fun I had going in Julians amazing 850R in our uni days, so against better judgement and basically all the advice I've been given i bought it sight unseen over the internet.
The car was in better condition than i had thought it would be and it performed admirably on the drive home from Canberra to Dubbo, although fuel consumption did seem high but on reflection the intoxicating sound of the 5 cylinder may have led to my right foot getting heavier throughout the day.
The day i picked it up from Canberra
The car is now registered and insured under my name with absolutely no issues and I've begun to formulate a rough plan for what I want to do with the car. Really the plan is to have it as a nice handling street/ touring car that has enough power to have a bit of fun with.
The car has received a fair bit of love from its previous owners and being able to chase its history through the forum is pretty helpful. there are a few bits in the car that are showing some age but I'm planning on fixing them in time.
for now though the plan I have -
First up stage zero service items (perished hoses, minor coolant leak, timing belt and water pump, aircon regas, new tyres ect)fix some ratty interior items (steering wheel, center console, handbrake ect)Paint work (roof has peeling clear coat and can be resprayed as an interim fix but the car really requires a closed door respray down the track)Tune.... a few timesand for some reason it only has two pedals in the foot well? so i should really go about trying to find the third one and install it. (m56 with LSD would be tasty)replace koni yellows with something a little less harsh
if you've got any suggestions on what else ill add it to the list.
After I got it home, registered and cleaned it.
