What codes did you get?

Tim, I was under the pump to get to Bathurst so I did not take notes of codes in VIDA/DICE. But as I said, on the DIM I had a check engine light, the ABS light, a red triangle for the brakes and a "3" where "D" normally goes.

I just now went out and started the car and have no codes.

Hard to say without codes but a high speed canbus or a voltage fault will drop out abs and dim communication.

I always snap a pic on my phone of vida fault readouts for reference later

I've had several strange warnings on P1 & P2 cars. YMMV but in each case it was a sign of impending battery failure or starting from a near flat battery.

Its likely that since the car hadn't been driven much in the week before my road trip that the battery was down. Then it sat unused for 8 days while I worked at Bathurst. Since then, I have had no faults. Fingers crossed all is good now. But I will be checking out the battery soon.

Very weird, I just had a similar problem today on my XC90! Same with the trip meter reading --:-- and Brake Failure Stop Safely or something, but the car is running fine. It happened after about 3 minutes of driving and then went away after another 2 minutes. Weird.

Timmeh, It happened again the other night. After driving about 40 kilometres, I stopped off at Maccas for a snack. When I got back in the car, I was getting the ABS warning. I did not have my Vida computer with me, but ran the fault code routine in my Torque Pro app. It came up with a speed sensor fault. Using the app, I cleared all codes and everything was good for the rest of the trip. Others forum members have suggested that it might be a damaged relucter ring or a faulty ABS sensor.

Don't know what to chase at this point, so I'll just have to continue to live with it.

@alcraig it's probably related to your clicking noise from the driveshaft. The bolt comes loose and the abs tone wheel (on outer C.V joint) moves away from the wheel speed sensor

Both bolts seem tight, but I need to purchase a 1/2" socket for my torque wrench to check for sure.

I believe it is 35 Nm plus 90 degrees.

Finally got the correct socket. Applied the torque wrench set at 35Nm. All bolts clicked, but having no idea if they had been further turned 90 degrees, I took a punt and put about 15 degrees more. The axle ping is GONE.

So between tightening the bolts, Gibbons-ing the tranny fluid and installing a new tranny torque mount, things are feeling much better.

But, I still have an issue with slow sharp right turns in 2nd or 3rd. Seems to jump out of gear and then bangs back in. Additionally, I'm not terribly happy with when it upshifts or downshifts. Could an adaption procedure be in order? Couldn't hurt I suppose.

Well, it happened again yesterday. but curiously, I had just reversed out of a parking space with a full left hand down. Got the ABS warning. But I simply shut it down and restarted and it came good. Ran a fault code check with my Torque Pro ap and got P0503.

Gonna get some new axle bolts and blue locktight soon.
