2007 XC70 P2
In addition to turning on the 2nd filament in the expected position, whenever I engage my rear fog light switch, the white (clear) reverse lights also light up. It has been suggested that there may be a short in the traces leading to the globe mounts and pulling the entire assembly may allow me to discover the issue. But that is not something I'm keen to do. Frankly, I'll just never use the rear fog lights.
But I was wondering if there is something in Vida/Dice that would allow me to correct this problem. Any thoughts
Sorry, still using it. And I live on the Gold Coast now.
Last week, while I was rotating my tires, I noticed that the inside of the front left wheel was gunked up with grease. Upon closer inspection, it appears that the outer most CV joint's boot has either split and is throwing grease or it has come away from the shaft and is leaking. Taking it to Stevenson's in Nerang tomorrow to have them put it up and have a better look at it.
But what I also noticed is the toothed ring that I am aware of on the right shaft (which I believe has something to do with either the ABS sensor or the speed sensor) seems to be missing on the left shaft. Is this normal? I there only supposed to be one toothed ring?

I need of a left rear lower tail light assembly. Anyone got one?

Man, if I were still in Sydney I'd be over tomorrow to look this one over. Sadly, I don't really need a second car. but this is tempting.

Has anybody else received a recall notice from Volvo regarding the driver side air bag? 2001-2007 models.

Hey Sydney peeps. There's an XC70 at Pick and Payless.
https://www.picknpayless.com.au/Jollys/ProductNewDetails?Aid=603684 I too have had issues with flaring and hard down shifts so I drained the sump and re-filled same amount. Several days later, I disconnected the upper hose and pumped out 2 litres and replaced with fresh. Did this several times over the next two months until I had gone through 16 litres of ATF.
Things seemed better, but what really seemed to make a big difference was when the car sat dormant for two months while I was in Tokyo. On return, I had to get the RACQ mobile mechanic to come around and jump start it. Things seem to be 99% better now.
However, there remains one tiny flaw. Sometimes, when I take an aggressive attitude to a round about (or a sweeping right hand turn) I get the feeling that a clutch is slipping (or a solenoid not doing its thing) and I have to back off and let it settle down before getting back on the pedal. Geels a bit like gravity and centripetal force is sloshing the ATF around. Doesn't happen on left hand turns.
Hmmm?
Any driveway mechanics willing to help a guy out? I have the parts to change out the timing belt, but have neither the expertise nor the tools. Gold Coast area. I can come to you.
Can anyone suggest a great independent Volvo mechanic near Broadbeach QLD?

The idea is to change it all at once, 16 litres , 2 at a time or till it comes out clean, doing it week about just muddies ALL the fluid together.
You're probably correct and I did it wrong. Next time, I'll do it all at once. But can you explain this: at the end of my street there is a sharp sweeping right hand turn. When I take it, I have to be careful of my speed, otherwise I get a shift flare as it tries to get into second gear (having come to the turn in 3rd). But 100 metres later, there is a similar left hand curve and I have no problems. Feels like gravity (or centrifugal force) sends the fluid to the left causing the flare. Any ideas?
Good news. Now, back to my transmission problems.
I am getting 2-3 shift flares when making slow-ish turns to the right. No problem going left.
Sometimes, it kicks hard when automatically down shifting from 3rd to 2nd as I come to a stop.
I feel like I have to "baby" the car in town.
I've got a 2007 CX70.
I bought my DICE off of ebay as recommended by Phila Bear.
But I couldn't find a Win7 laptop so I went with the USB SSD device that Mathew Leavesly sells.
It plugs into a USB port on my Win10 laptop. When I power it up, I hit F9 and it takes me to an option that forces the computer to run the OS on the USB device.
I works quite well. But I am new to the software and still learning.
Which dealership?
Besides getting the warning message, have you had any indications that the transmission isn't performing as it should? A minor glitch in the electronics (or a dying battery) might have thrown up the message when there may be nothing really wrong.
I am also on the Northern Beaches and, although I am not a mechanic, just a life long Volvo enthusiast, I have a Volvo Vida/Dice system that can further analyse your issues.
I'd be willing to come to you and run the diagnostic program and see what we can see and learn.
I don't know much about the Col Voss shop, but did stop in there once and the were very forthcoming with advice and knowledge. If you go down that path, I'd be interested in their service and costs.
I bought 4 new axle bolts from Volvo and some Chemtools Rapidstickā¢ 8243 Threadlocker (blue).timboGoogle axle ping on Volvo's.
You probably just need to remove the driveshaft bolt and add some thread locker/loctite
If I were to loosen the bolts, jack up each wheel in turn and back the bolts out, would I then be able to push the driveshafts inwards somewhat and then, from behind apply some of the thread locker to the splines before drawing the shafts back into the hubs and finally using the thread locker on the bolts and then torque to spec (35Nm +90 degrees to the fronts and 50Nm to the rears)?
And if you think it might help with the problem stated in another of my threads of occasional ABS fault codes and whilst I have the wheels off, I will double check the condition of the reluctor rings, clean off the "eye" of the ABS sensors and check the condition of the wiring.
Well, it happened again yesterday. but curiously, I had just reversed out of a parking space with a full left hand down. Got the ABS warning. But I simply shut it down and restarted and it came good. Ran a fault code check with my Torque Pro ap and got P0503.
Gonna get some new axle bolts and blue locktight soon.
Finally got the correct socket. Applied the torque wrench set at 35Nm. All bolts clicked, but having no idea if they had been further turned 90 degrees, I took a punt and put about 15 degrees more. The axle ping is GONE.
So between tightening the bolts, Gibbons-ing the tranny fluid and installing a new tranny torque mount, things are feeling much better.
But, I still have an issue with slow sharp right turns in 2nd or 3rd. Seems to jump out of gear and then bangs back in. Additionally, I'm not terribly happy with when it upshifts or downshifts. Could an adaption procedure be in order? Couldn't hurt I suppose.
