Happy cold windy day today but, found the issue, turns out speedo, odometer & cruise control signals all come from the multi pin plug at the tracs sensor harness that leads to instrument cluster.
Turns out I need a new clear front for cluster as in the daylight found its badly marked.
Started with WD40 electrical cleaner and going over the multi pin only to find I hadn't made sure it was all the way in, secret it seems it to fold back the half moon cover that exposes the to of the wires, gently push down ensure g ug is square to socket so you don't damage the small thin pins (once they've been cleaned with the spray).
Then fold down the half moon cover and ensure it clips in neatly.
Turned ignition on, petrol gauge now works, so dose speedo and odometer (replaced both gears last weekend with total dash out job) this also improved the range of the El cheapo factory optional door lock remote by laying wire antenna on top of air vent tube at bottom of windscreen.
Took it for a drive and now have cruise control working as well.
