850 cruise control signal comes from?

I took the 850R for a run up to the southern highlands today and on a long straight tried to use the cruise control as per owners manual instructions but it's not working, anyone know where it gets its signal from to operate.

Note the speedo & odometer don't work at the moment as fears need replacing.

I've just swapped out the tracs unit for a refurbished one from BMG, tracs light has now gone out but no cruise control

If it's anything like the 240, the speedometer provides a signal to the cruise. Also, the gear issue usually only affects the odometer, not the speedometer in 240s...so maybe you have a wiring issue and the instrument cluster isn't getting a speed signal? Did speedometer and odometer functions fail at the same time?

The cruise works on a sort of crap vacuum system, it's bolted underneath the battery tray, take the battery out then unbolt the tray and flip it over to remove, bench test it to see if the works, they do fail

Also check these switches in the picture below, it's a crap system but that's life pre Can bus

The car had been sitting for 9yrs doing nothing, when I got it going again, both speedo and odometer weren't working at all.

I've got a set of gears arrived from FCP.

I may have knocked a vacuum hose off when I did the tracs unit replacement to, will check that out as well.

The instrument units do fail , see if you can try another one or find out how to test it.

Is this the cruise control pump?

No that's your BCS, (boost control solenoid) you might want to upgrade that to a TCV (turbo control valve) at a later date, just an improved part.

The cruise control is right underneath the battery tray

Had the dash apart today.

Replaced odometer & speedo gears, some bulbs.

All went well, used Robert Spinners video on Utube.
