Strangely enough mine had had the holder in but no filter .
Cabin Air Filter Adapter 1996 850 RHD
Thankyou fellow ozvolvians. I will scour the local wrecks of the models mentioned.
It's incomprehensible that a $5 piece of plastic is the difference between base and higher spec models having or not having a cabin filter but every little extra they could leave out on the base model helped volvo cream it on the higher spec ones. What miserable shits.
Reminds me of a very wealthy luxury home builder I know who only ever installed single power points because it saved him $3 a power point. I mean why would you bother, its just pathetic.
BTW : There was a compost heap brimming to the rim of this one's cabin air inlet. So bad its a wonder worms haven't found their way into the air con. When I install the filter I will rip out the entire apron and give it a long overdue clean and scrub.
You can order a new genuine one from any Volvo Dealer.... about $50
