  • 940 Turbo - 25 mm Front and Rear IPD sway bar

The 940 - It was originally an automatic when I bought it 10 years ago, but I had an M 47 five speed in my about to die 740 turbo. Simple job to have Stevenson Automobiles at Nerang Qld 07 5596 5999 transfer the pedals and gearbox to the 940,

The USA company IPD makes a 25 mm sway bar kit which friends tell me really tightens up the handling more than springs and shocks, Freight from the USA is ridiculously expensive so I'm hoping someone in Oz will have one I can buy.

I highly recommend the ipd sway bars...have them on all my 240s. But yes, with the AUD so low and ipd’s high shipping rates, it would be pretty expensive to get them here. We really need a local source! I’ve been told Pedders do a larger one for 240s...might be worth contacting them to see if they also do 700/900 series ones.

You could try K-Mac suspension as they do sway bars for the Volvo 164, so it's likely they might be able to make some 940 ones.

Whiteline made a 24mm 740 sway bar at some point might be out of stock now though.

Ultra racing in Malaysia do a 23mm solid rear sway bar.

Might be worth giving Whiteline a call and if theres enough want for it within the 7/9 owners they could maybe reproduce a few sets

    Cool, keep us updated

I've also heard that Falcon front Sway Bars swap in with ease? 27mm I believe.

Thanks Lachie. Hoping someone in Oz had the IPD matched front and rear set for sale but no luck so far

      Thats for 240

IPD sways are on sale at the moment, but would still be $600 by the time you got them here.

For that money I'd be going to the wreckers with a tape measure and seeing what would fit or could be adapted to fit from the 4x4/Ute world. Or just running 2 or 3 stock swaybars.

No luck with Pedders or K-Mac

A phone cal to K-Macl may be more effective, he can be a bit slow on email.

They make their bars to order from spring steel in-house.

Tried a call to K-Mac. No luck unless I want them to tool up for a custom job which = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I think im going to wait for the dollar to go back up and then do a big IPD/Kaplhenke order. Ill make a thread when that time comes and we can all save up on shipping :)

I'm in Brisbane, and am interested in some IPD sway bars for my 940 turbo wagon. I checked to see what shipping would be for 2 sway bar kits and it wasn't that much more expensive, so perhaps if we can get a few people together we could organise an order? Cheers, Evan

Literally emailed them this afternoon about that. Will keep you guys posted

To me the real issue is the king springs are not that great for handling improvements I've found. I've ended up with coil overs and Gaz shocks as have a few friends but also the Whiteline bars are good. Classic swede do upgraded adjustable gaz shocks and they are well suited. They do springs too.

Going so stiff in the rear on the sway bar isn't going to be that great unless you have stiffened the rest of the bushes. Also adding caster to the front made my 740 feel a lot better and that's also pretty simple to do!

am I correct in saying whiteline stopped making the sway bars for 740/940? I’ve replaced most of my bushings to poly and would love it to stay even a little flatter on corners…
