Accumulator didn't fix it...looks like I'm pulling the metering head down

Resurrecting this, it ate another fuel pump so swapped out the rusty fuel tank for one with a pre pump. Have replaced the fuel lines entirely, replaced the entire kjet setup for a known working albeit b23 setup, new fuel filter etc.
It's starting, idling & running at low load perfectly now. Under load it's a shit, has a hard miss & drops power badly.
Soooo it's got a lh main pump atm not a kjet pump, would this likely cause issue?
Borrowed power from the main pump for the tank pump, could that cause this issue?
It's so close to actually running properly...

Not sure, both of those thoughts are solid things to check though.

Ran new wiring to each pump, no dice. Pressure checked it, 56psi max. That does not a happy kjets make...time to start digging through the boxes for another kjet pump.
egads (she/her)
Walbro 255 does at least 80PSI and are around ~$100 for genuine or semi genuine.

That's the intank one yeah?
egads (she/her)
Yeah. I was looking at using one if the 145's single pump was bad.

Found a good kjet pump & fixed. Now to investigate why there's no fuel gauge since changing tanks, swap out aux air valve as it's sticky & control pressure reg as it's still a turd cold. Ah kjet you crazy fool!

Lol!

This is almost identical to what my 79 2454 is doing to me at the moment. My tank does have a lot of crap in. It but have managed to clean it out today. My under at pump is now from a vr commodore. Hoping to get it back together tomorrow and with fresh fuel it will be fine. I am lucky to have 2.5km of dirt road to test drive on?

Sounds like my 76 245 in 1981 after a 'friend' borrowed it and it ran out of fuel
Absolute dog for 2 months
I pulled the fuel distributor out. Dropped the metering piston and back flushed the unit using petrol
Lots of little black bits came out
I kept flushing until no more little black bits came out
I did not pull the unit apart that is a serious job ! Instructions are in the net
Then I put it back together
It started first time and ran like new
Good luck
Ps I still have the original gearbox for that car if anyone wants one it's the arely 4 speed has done 170 Mm

Yeah, I pulled the entire metering head down & so much rust...it's not salvageable. Swapped metering heads from a known good b23 one onto the base flappy plenum thingo as it's an early car & has the extra electrical plug (which I have no idea what it does other than turning the pumps on when you unplug it.)
Swapped in a good aux air valve so thats working.
Swapped CPR & still a bitch on startup until warm, takes a few goes to get it to start & stay running then it's lean as buggery until warm.
To crush or not to crush...

thanks for that. I have flushed/ cleaned tank and flushed all lines but if problem persists I will do as you have said. Michael.
