I might add that it has good compression, the ECU is throwing code 123, which alludes to the signal from the coolant temp sensor not being present. It had a new coolant temp sensor fitted a month ago, must be a wiring issue. This error will attribute to hard starting when cold. It takes about 3 - 4 seconds of cranking, and only when cold. As soon as it's even moderately warm, it fires right up.

It also has the fog lights, extended-range fuel tank and tow pack fitted from factory.

I'm painting a dull picture of it I know, but i'm just trying to be as honest as possible.

I appreciate your honesty. I am in a strange place at the moment with cars. I do like the car I have now, but tired of the rust and the little niggling problems that keep coming up at 180 000 km. Not used to cars needing things tidied up every other week. It was mostly cosmetic and rust, but now I have spent some time on the engine and cooling system and still go things that need doing. But I am wanting to own another Volvo, but was hoping to hold off a few more years to include some nice $$ in a home loan to cover a Volvo. I don't know that I want to wait that long now :)

LOL indeed. My cousin Mick tells me now I have no excuse to get another Volvo. There's a few options close to home. As I said to him, if I had a bit more money in the bank, there'd be a 740 in the driveway this weekend.
