^what sort of sick fuck would write that haha
The car had been behaving itself and I guess I'd just gotten used to the way it was. Just came back from a little trip up north, all trouble free. Even had a little bit of a battle with a WRX on some long hilly sweepers which was fun til we hit traffic. I think he was a bit surprised when he accelerated away and I was glued to him.
But anyway, I pulled the plugs and they had a little bit of a greyish white, which had me concerned, thinking it had been running lean. But I checked the plug health guide on ipd and they looked just like the example photo of a healthy plug. Tested compression. 180 on 1, 3 and 5. 175 on 2 and 4. Bit surprised really. Thinking perhaps the engine has been replaced? Seems too good for a 350,000km motor. The head has been reconditioned though and GLT did say the bottom end looked good. How do you cross check the engine to see if it is the original motor?
Also, replaced the factory airbox with the pod and alloy airbox from my T5. At the same time noticed the line from the compressor to the TCV was a bit short and sort of kinked so relocated the TCV so the hose isn't kinked. And it seems to have made a difference.. hitting higher boost at much lower throttle inputs. Slightly more low down torque puttering around off boost. Less willing to kick down at mild throttle inputs going up hills etc too. And about an extra .5-1psi at full boost. So overall, just more pleasant to drive. The line was only slightly kinked but enough to restrict boost and affect the way the TCV functions I guess.
