• Wanted
  • 242GT or 242 or 142s . Want a good one. Original preferred. $ ready to go!

Willing to travel.
Looking for a good, honest example.
Doesn't matter if the paint is well faded and nearly falling off. Original is good.
Pristine condition or close, would be a dream come true.
Running, roadworthy and preferably registered.
The car must be genuinely for sale. Thanks.
Contact 044 triple eight 6596.

cheers,
richo
There's three for sale on gumtree

I must be lousy at searching, I haven't found a one.
Care to share a link with a computer dummy, please?
Go to Gumtree
Search volvo 242 & volvo gt
There's still a couple on there
With the Gosford motor museum folding and the auction of contents the 242GT there should be part of it. Was a very good example
Well apparently not. Its not in catalogue on line.

Was for sale a year or so ago so may have been sold before
Thanks, I wonder why I can't see that when I search. I'll phone the fella this morning. Thanks again, that's the sort of car I'm looking for..... or better.

And after phoning, the car has been sold to someone who hasn't picked it up. But it's no longer for sale, according to the owner.

Thanks again for the heads up, still dunno why I can't see the advert.
Maybe go to Tamworth at Easter and check them out all lined up and wave a decent wad of cash in air and someone may want to sell theirs.

Bear in mind restoration costs mount up very quick even when you do it as cost effective as possible so getting someone to part with a very very good 1979 may take some serious cash and or patience for right one to come along.

Good luck
Agreed, am about to restore mine after 30yrs of ownership and last respray in 1993.
Restoring big money, good second hand cheaper
Thanks, not going to restore, like older original, paint faded, or simply looked after.

Tamworth at Easter is out of the question at this late stage.
Decent wad of cash waving....
I know Richo very well, and there is nobody I would rather sell a car I loved to.
When he finds the right car it will be cherished and treated well.

Nothing thus far, I live this hope :) .
I assume you’ve been in contact with Craig Rasmussen in SA and Lance Phillips (the 242/262 register captain?) If any are for sale they ought to be aware of them. I know Craig has probably a dozen or more GTs in Adelaide in various condition. Good luck with your search! One will come along eventually!

Thanks, yes, of course. Craig has been a help in the past with information, especially when the odd project has risen from the depths.
It's the driven, registered, running cars that seem to be glued to their current owners ;-)

peterwgpa;c-158169 wroteThis one looks like one of the better ones I have seen for sale for a while

And two weeks on, I'm not a lot closer to it. Inspection has proved difficult, communication similar.
Looking continues.

Anyone....have a better or more original example? Don't mind paint fading, but correctness is important.
Thanks.
Marks 142 is pretty neat, the sound of the 16V with Webers is gorgeous!
Lots work done,cheap price.
