Im soon to be the owner of an early 90s Discovery D1, 3.9L V8, auto and some 300 thousand kms.
Why? Because nobody wanted my wagon enough and the gent needed to offload this before picking up the 850.
Always liked the discos, D1s more than D2 onwards due to the ever growing complexity of their electronics and the potential for failure.
Its very original except for a set of semi - electric commodore seats.
Its a pretty chalky blue, super smooth and very straight.
No rust apart from the usual slight crispiness in the upper roof windows.
All in all a neat bit of kit, Its going to be absolutely shithouse on fuel, but having another auto car on club reg will make the commute to uni and back a few times a week a little easier - As nice and light as the clutch is on the R, I still find after 45 mins in standstill traffic I find myself wondering if I have a battery and composite demo blade for my recipro in the boot to just take my left leg off as it would be easier than suffering through Glenferrie Rd on a Tuesday morning.
Plans?
Absolutely none.
I have a rocker gasket kit coming as they are pissing out oil, a genuine oil filter coming from SMG and a set of plugs.
Reverse lights dont work, hoping its not the switch in the box, Guess Ill have to see when Its on the hoist.
Ok... maybe a centre muffler delete B)
Trying not to even consider a TD5 swap
