Hello all,
Does anyone know if dealers can access detailed maintenance records? My new-to-me 2009 XC70 D5 was sold and maintained by a single Volvo dealer until last year. I've tried to get the service records, but was told they are not available, just that the required services were performed. I'm keen to find out if/when timing belt/accessory belt was ever done, water pump, belt tensioner etc. I'm at 135k now, so would like to reduce the risk of belt/tensioner failure.
Thanks, Erik.

They will have them, but won't necessarily agree to tell you about them. I had this problem with my V50 (and had I known I may not have bought it). There's no reason they can't tell you.
In my case Silverstone tried to tell me the Privacy Act prevented them, but that's nonsense. I work in government with highly confidential information and I know what can and can't be offered.
In the end (but later) I got what I was after from Volvo Cars Camberwell as they are the same company but a more cooperative dealer.
Good luck in your quest

I would get that belt changed without delay

Thank you for your feedback; belts will be done ASAP, cheers.

10yrs or 180,000kms for the timing belt so unlikely it's been done if serviced via the volvo schedule

Any nice workshop I've encountered is more than happy to discuss details verbally and often happy (when asked nicely) to print out details without PO name/address. It's pretty nasty to withhold that info and they definitely lose a potential future customer.
