It's factory because I bought it from the original owner who never did anything to the car except oil, tyres and battery. But it looks like someone had a broken CRT TV lying around, pulled out an aluminium transistor heatsink, and guesstimated where to screw it on to 'push' the cable away from the body as long it never dropped any lower.
The AMM is covering it again now. If FCP says yes to returning the AMM (has a spinning mounting hole), I'll have another look.
OK, I had a look at my 91 and it looks exactly like your photo. There is a plastic piece with a protruding clip head taped to the outboard side of the harness, and it clips into a hole in the vertical wall of the aluminium bracket. If you look close from the outboard side, you'll see the black clip head protruding through the aluminium bracket. So all good, and all correct! :) My A/C compressor is throwing out oil so the clip is embarrassingly filthy in my photos. My bad!
