themadracoon My 240GL has served me virtually trouble-free these last 3 years. The last 4 months it had been ferrying me on a 400 km round country trip every week. It was due for a service this month, and the last 2 weeks on the colder mornings didn't fire first time, and usually needed to bring it up to 1200 rpm to ensure it idled without stalling. Once warm everything was normal. On warmer afternoons it was no problem, idling normally. Sunday it wouldn't fire. Kept on cranking. Pumped the throttle (which I've never done before) and on cranking had an almighty backfire. I actually thought some kids might have shoved something up the exhaust for laughs. But it could have been me pumping the throttle fully 3-4 times. I don't have time to investigate and saving cash for my other older car, so am going to offer it for sale, as is, where is, cancelling registration in the next week or so. Steering rack has been leaking, paint work peeled on drivers' side. Interior presentable. A few minor spares. Unmodified. Offers considered. PM me. Am a little busy but will answer as soon as I can, and to be fair will try to arrange viewing in order of interest received.
themadracoon Hi all, sorry for not following the For Sale format earlier. Images attached. Mileage is around 310,000 km now (have to check!)
themadracoon Update. $300 unregistered. Bring your own trailer with winch. Make sure your handbrake is good as am on a hill... or bring your own brick to chock wheels. Car is parked on the road facing up hill (if that helps you plan things!)
Vee_Que Sorry for this input. But you can keep the registration on the car and the next owner with the paperwork is legally required to get a roadworthy within 30 days. That way it is not in your name, but the car stays registered and is likely to sell better.
themadracoon Thanks VQ. I guess that depends on what next owner wants the car for. It's been a while since I looked at VicRoads paperwork but iirc the onus is on the seller to provide the RWC? Don, car is in south eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
themadracoon Anyone? Not worth saving this? Engine number: 49988905882 VIN isn't on rego papers so, I'll have to pop the bonnet but I'm out of town atm. Good interior, undamaged handbrake cover, working clock, original radio.....
