Howdy everyone. I'm a little gutted to be honest. The short story. I found this XC90 .. is the one here that's $14,000

So got talking with the owner he seemed legit enough, put me onto his mechanic who also told me it was a good car etc. There's an extended warranty on the vehicle so I phoned up the company who supplied it and asked about transferring it into my name.. The lady there went on to tell me, said 'well, I hope you're sitting down' and went onto to disclose 2 major problems the car has had, at 103,000kms - engine replacement! Due to no compression in the 4th cylinder, cracked head and bent valve. then 3 weeks ago, auto transmission failure and replacement. So the owner must have had enough of this now seemingly lemon and wanted it gone. It has no logbooks hence the ridiculously cheap price for the vehicle it is. (not that a logbook would have disclosed those items as such)
So basically the car crawled over the line at 100,000 clicks and both the engine and gearbox both had to be replaced. (I even had a bank cheque ready and we'd planned to stay the night up there over the weekend, so I was keen, now not so much) This has put me off the XC90 in a big way. Is this is a common problem with this model? or just an unlucky one?
I really do like them but now I have little confidence in them after today's dramas. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
