Thanks egads. I had a closer look at it yesterday after removing the lower plastic panel and also looked at the green book manual and I think that would be doable. I do have a GT gauge cluster that I'd like to install, and also want to remove some aux gauges and radio installed by previous owner, so I think I might bite the bullet and pull the whole dash to do all that at once.
With the heater fan, I don't understand why a fuse doesn't blow if it's seized? I checked all the wiring, earth, power, switch, and resistance across motor windings. Give it power and nothing. Hmm.
