Hi, I have just had an inpspection by Stateroads on a 08 XC90 with 160,000 on clock. (d5) the car came back with overall good condition for an oldie but he has mentioned that there is evident driveline slack on acceleration and deacceleration and creek noise at front end when going over small bumps-suggests having the yard go over mounts and bushes? Does this sound an issue- was hoping to fly in and drive back to SA on Friday. Nothing on diagnostic but noticed the handheld device said 'ML Status off" cheers, and thanks. Should say full Volvo service history at 12000 to 15000 kms except last which was 19000.

19000km is horribly excessive :-(
Front end needs a rebuild
Will need new sway bar end links and strut/spring mounts at a minimum
Driveline slack is probobly worn motor and trans mounts
Toss 2k at car and it would probobly resolve everything

Has 160000 on clock , that was 19000 service gap on last service but it's still up there. I sort of figured anything older had the potential to require $2 k work and felt even a 2010/11 had the same potential (might be a flawed theory) I am looking at a deal just under $13k-hoping I am not being silly ie reassurance required ?

Oops should say they included a '3 year prestige car warranty' -don't know if that is worth anything though.
Philia_Bear
Ask for a discount instead
The warranty is not worth the paper it's written on

Yeah sort of thought that-thanks much appreciated !

For your info. I replaced the motor and trans mounts on my xc90 with parts from fcp euro. Very easy and straightforward job. And parts not that expensive.
Spring seats etc I haven't done. Mine has 190km on it but still drives fantastically. (V8 not diesel) I had the trans fluid changed and have regularly serviced it myself.
Listen to @Philia_Bear though. He knows his stuff.
Unfortunately prob going to move mine on sooner than later as just doing too many Kay's and looking to downsize at least one of our cars and as the xc90 is the oldest by a way it gets the chop.
I love it though.

Thanks Kyril-every one I know loves their xc90-just not the repair costs but with wise sourcing hopefull to keep low like you. Will note fcp euro thx.
