First built in 1985, this car is best known as the Mauro Baldi / Peggen Andersson "electronics" car, which ran in the latter rounds of the 1986 ETC. It is a factory built and refurbished Volvo Motorsport unit.

It won the Finnish Group A championship in 1987 in the hands of Leif Wiik, and is presently owned by the legendary Peggen Andersson.

Price on application by serious buyers, as this one will be priced significantly more than the 240s you find on Gumtree.

Forging the car's log book can be done, but proving the car had an actual Group A racing history would be impossible.

There are enough "lost" cars to "find" one of them
Also afaik the rules say as long as you recover like 15% of the car by weight you can fully restore it
There are some Porsche historic cars where they have been legit restored 2x because 2 people each got half the floor pan

Also... cars can be (and frequently are) in 2 places at once
Piles of stuff where the car is racing in USA and Europe at same time and no one notices because no one is talking about it or assumes the cars are different

Rules overseas different to Australia for requirements for certificate of description and historic logbook for group A and our Group C not really relevent to Europe although links through FIA for some parts.

There was talk a little while ago about introducing Europe rules here. Lets hope they dont and we keep the rules tight.

Yes its possible but more improbable to get away with a fake in Australia. Esoecially so given one or more did go to jail in Australia a few years ago for a pretty elaborate scheme. The bigger the $ the bigger the incentive

Too much money spent on cars like the Gibson gtr's to try doing a fake. And not worth it. Other modern race classes like touring car masters would be against 600hp toranas and the like. It's pointless to bother.
