Appears undamaged. Pickles advised car was a council collected vehicle on side of road abandoned. Appears undamaged. Mechanical ???
Could be something simple and abandoned by someone who knows not what they had.
Seems a viable one to save, freight to NSW is the killer for me. With these low klms I'm still considering.
Looking at the interior it looks the same as my 850R, did the T5s have the same seats?
No T5 or R badge on tailgate....

The km and that engine bay dont match up at all
Engine bay says flooded in mud river
Interior says steam cleaned
ToomanyVolvos
Agree, engine bay was the first question I asked of pickles.... No specific response to my question, just that it was abandoned and Probably has mechanical issues. Asked for engine number and they didn't advise of that either. Obviously a turbo, incorrect wheels etc. My confusion is mainly that the interior seems just like my 96 850R, thought that the T5 seats etc where different.
Doubt that if it was flood damaged anyone would have cleaned the interior.
Be well worth a gamble if your in VIC...

Great resource! Off the road for 4 years is a bit suspicious.
That engine code B5234T5 is for the T5R or R according to Wikipedia..... I believe the seats are R type seats.

So is the most likely explanation that this is a re-suited 850R, a standard wagon with an engine transplant, a transitional model or something else?
ToomanyVolvos
Well the engine (INCL engine number) and interior appears to be an 850R. Not sure that any R was ever a transition model. The partial unpainted bumpers appear wrong for an 850R, as do the wheels. I haven't worked it out, but if it's an 850R with some wrong bits attached it must be perhaps the lowest KLM example, assuming the ODO works.
Anyone want to drive it to Sydney for me on a permit?
Ex850R
It's an R.
No turquoise t5rs.
If abandoned in Melbourne then it couldn't have been flooded like that.
ToomanyVolvos
Agree, but were there any R's in that colour? (Edit, yes they were)
From the VIC roads records it's been a few years (4!) since Registration. Not an insurance claim. Surely an abondoned vehicle doesn't take over 4 years to be collected?
Rob
Yes, definitely an R, they did indeed come in turquoise pearl metallic.
Wrong wheels and bumper though

They did offer R's in that colour, there's another wagon in Melbourne in the same colour.
4 years wouldn't surprise me, often they sit around for years until someone reports them and they get removed.
Ex850R
Yes, that colour for sure.
So few Rs in this country, I wouldn't worry about it being off the road.
All things needing fixed are what all P80 need fixed anyway.
Budget on 2k on getting it right.
Gearbox may be issue.
Usual other problems may stop it running.

It's impossible to know what's happened to this car. It would seem to have been perhaps the lowest KLM "R" around and there's obviously something that's happened. Serious flood, overheating.... Who knows.
These were before the transmission issues so that would be the least of my concerns.
I'd be assuming possible major engine damage due neglect or flooding..
In any case I'd be very keen if I didn't have to add 500 freight to NSW.
Hope someone saves her and ends up with a nice score.
Ex850R
Even the old 4spd autos fail.
The odometer gears fail too.
A motor from later car can be swapped in cheaply if that's the case.
If 500 shipping is too much then the $2000 to get to 'stage 0' is gonna kill you.
Plus any mechanical issues.
It's an R, they are now quite rare.
ToomanyVolvos
I've already got an R that's a garage queen that doesn't deserve to be.... Plenty of work to do but a solid base. Valve stem seals. All mounts. Front struts etc etc..... Plus stage zero items, I'll need to budget 4K plus not including the failed roof clearcoat.
Wouldn't be worried about stage zero if the entire drivetrain has been submerged for a time I'm assuming she's just body parts and interior..... (Not even worth present bid) If she happens to be ok and not been submerged well it's one cheap R! Based on the interior the KLMs could be *possible*.

I remember this car on ebay/gumtree years ago.
An R with a few issues back then.

What did she end up selling for? I decided to stay away, really liked the colour combo but too much else going on for me at the minute.
