ab1 Looking at my flywheel it seems form factory theres already been mass taken out of it Can i take more out? apparently this one came from an AQ170 I'm not sure there design was different from the car engines
Vee_Que I've lightened flywheels for the 4 cylinder motors. I can organise lightening the one you have. You have no comparison on how the car acts so knowing before is more useful, did you feel your old one didn't rev fast enough?
ab1 The main issue is shifting it'll chirp second gear shifting quickly and rev matching is impossible to get right from third to second. Forget about first
deleted_user_160 Rev matching is a very difficult task. Do drive a truck split box. That will show you how difficult it is ;p fun but difficult

Vee_Que A lighter flywheel makes that harder to be honest as the engine will speed up and slow down quicker. As someone who does drive trucks, some with road rangers, rev matching and double clutching just ends up with a sore leg. Chirping second gear is to do with the you shifting fast and putting on the power fast, crap tyres are a culprit for that happening as well as landing in peak torque.

Vee_Que I can lighten it for you, but you want the slow shift honestly to save the gearbox. No box likes being shifted fast and the stock flywheel isn't that heavy to start with against newer cars. The sheer weight of the b30 rotating mass makes a bigger difference. Did you have the pistons and rods and crank balanced?
ab1 not sure about the pistons and rods but the crank wasn't as far as i know. id be interested in taking a little bit of weight out but depends how costly the process is ? it is quite light comparing it to an 850 aluminium one it was only a kg or two heavier
Spac I get your point about the mass of the flywheel (mum's KE55 when I was a P-plater...) but are you sure you're not over revving it?
