MY 2006 V50 2.4 170 something hp. 144Kkm, recent service....I use 98ron, unless it's at the higher cycle, then it's 95ron.
Trip computer tells me I'm running at 11.7 litres per 100km. I did a 300km hwy drive recently and was at the speed limit or a tad over. Best it displayed was 11.5 towards the end.
Is this usual?
My 08 3.5 litre Aurion gets 7-7.5 same trip.

City driving should be around 11.5-12L/100
Highway should be around 7-8l/100
The trip meter is an average over 2000-4000KM so a 300KM drive wont make much of a difference

How are the plugs? Air flow meter clean? Air cleaner? Ignition coil, o2 sensor etc
Camrys are special cases in that they are designed to get maximum economy, and it may just have every part not dirty or needing to be changed. And the trip readout is instant.
How much fuel do you put in a week, do you go whole tank to whole tank? If so. Measure between fill ups the kms driven..

Thanks. Fill ups are inconsistent.

That probably means it's all ok. I might have a look at the MAF and clean it.

Use a phone app like "gas manager", and reset your AVG fuel consumption more often and compare

I have an S40 2.4i, and am currently averaging 9.5 L/100km on my commute to/from work (through Melbourne suburbs traffic) and this drops a bit on the highway. Checked against fuel receipts, so the on-board fuel computer is pretty accurate.
So yes, that seems a bit high. Check that everything at the fuel/air side is clean and she's breathing well.

This car is primarily my wifes car, but I did a 300km drive yesterday. 100kph on cruise to Torquay and back, Geelong freeway, and it happily sits on 7litres/100km. Happy now. :D
The emission warning light came on on the way there Thursday. It was off yesterday and today. :grey_question:

My 850r (T5) gets better than that.
The dash board consumption is a very easy way of telling if not all is right.
7 L/100km about seems right.
Short stop/start really use a lot of fuel.
V8HUNTER
seem to be a lot of fuel consumption
I can`t complaint on my silver bullet lol s40 turbo 10l/100km punching etc and great of trips only 5l/100km 100km/h on crusie control

The 2.4i does better in city than a T5 will but the bad gearing kill it for highway economy
Chris
@V8HUNTER yours is a totally different car, 4 cylinder whiteblock not 5 in a lighter body. @boxerboy81 7 Highway sounds about right for yours
V8HUNTER
its not 7 its 5 60l tank done almost 1200km on one tand to Melbourne and back 1100 and 80 on reserve when car shut down. I stopped fuel 10 liter can start up and drove to nearest petrol station
Bp ultimate 98 octane is a best fuel better then caltex or shell
Chris
Yes I'm sure it is @V8HUNTER but you missed the point, the OP was asking about a 5 cylinder NA V50 which has little relation to your car
V8HUNTER
yeah my fault sorry for that I had to focus more on my reading lol
