  • My 240 volvos - 88 sedan 89 wagon -current things

I think I have a "Chrysler ignition systems" in my silver 240 - well going round one of the rounder-abouts near Canberra Airport the engine stopped having a spark.
We coasted to a stop and got a lift home behind my wifes Rodeo ute. _scary_
This morning tested for a spark - no spark - started to look for a ignition amplifier to replace - after checking all the fuses - no amplifier on the rear fire wall.
Appart from plugging in another 1357308 USA - Chrysler ignition I can see no way of testing it.
All ideas most welcome.
What obvious thing am I missing?
Thanks

The sensor in the distributor fails most commonly
If you go back now that it has cooled off it might drive again for 10-20min
Loosen the distributor by the single 13mm bolt. Take the bolt out and put it aside. Then turn the key to ON. Now turn the distributor. Keep turning until you hear the injectors fire. If they don't fire then check the fuel pump relay under the passenger side dash. It's big and white.

You can check this by turning the key from off to on and listening for and audible tick.

If no tick then replace. If you replace and still no tick then check the blade fuse in the engine bay on the passenger side. If original it's small and white and should be a 30amp fuse.

Actually check that fuse first before doing anything else :)
Thanks
All fuses checked. Original engine bay fuse holder already dithced and replaced.
will try the others this weekend
At least it is non interference. Got one stashed or one on the way?
Just aquired this wagon.
Bit of an impulse buy as we'd always wanted one and this one sat near our house unloved.
Ike worked majic on the suspension and engine.
Now I need to fix the rest.
After the following parts;
  • Timing belt cover
  • Rhs lower trim black
  • Trim clips
  • Rhs pocket
  • Air dam
  • Sump cover
  • Spare computer
  • Spare fuel pump realay
  • Lhs gaurd cream
  • Cream paint
  • Rear window washer tank and pump
  • Rear indicator lenses
Any assistance by people near by appreciated. ACT region.

Think the above photos show the worst of it! :-(
Interior is wonderful - no hay bails - drives sublimely -now.

Where would you buy a timing belt locally without stupid expence?
I'm pretty sure I saw this car advertised on Gumtree about 18 months ago for $1500 or so. A few weeks later it was advertised by a different seller for about twice that. Glad its gone to a good owner now!

I'm pretty sure I have the long front silver trim piece if you want me to have a look.
And which is the "rhs lower trim black" that you need? The one near the bonnet release lever? or an exterior one?
The front air dam I also have, wrong colour though, but you could always paint it.
Wow - we paid $500 but - it had a broken timing belt. We got Ike to get it thru rego.
The black trim is the one under the doors. Drivers side.
All those would be good

And they are so cheap. Thanks done!
