Hello all. I came accross a 940 turbo sedan at a wrecker the other day. Engine bay mostly intact. Auto 1991 compliance. About 198k on the odometer. Rear mounted distributor cap.

I am new to this model. The car could be had as parts for a few hundred. My question is,is this a good year/engine/transmission for a 240 swap?

If the 240 is a 89+ build with LH2.4 the 940 shown would have most everything you need to make a turbo 240
Interesting find given your in Tasi. Wish it was in my neighbourhood.
If the parts pickers haven't nicked the control units for fuel Lh2.4 and ignition, then go ahead.
Looks like the intercooler and pipes are gone.
The turbo has a number of unique parts.
Guess all the oil is from a front engine seal area.

My car is 88, so perhaps not a good idea for me.

The spots on the front are rain, not oil. The engine looked clean enough under the cap. The pipes were still there in the engine bay. I think it was just one of those car's somebody gave up on.

Perhaps a good parts car for somebody else?

Yes.
Because LH 2.4 and EZ-116K.
Because squirter block.
Because 90+ turbo exhaust manifold.
Because AW-71.

Indeed. Although if it's a L block, it's a squirter block, but it may not have the squirters fitted.

The oil galleries on K blocks don't have the visible bumps (as seen on L blocks) on the oil filter / exhaust side of the engine.
July 92 is squirters fitted. But definitely because it's a 90+, but don't be suprised if it is worn out internally.
