For personal family reasons I don't want to go into here, I'm considering selling my 122. I've had the car for more than 7 years and it's been constantly evolving and still isn't finished. I have no idea what it would be worth.
A lot of you may have seen it in various threads over the years but this is it's current spec.
- '66 122S 4 door
- Grey/white roof. Painted last year. Still hasn't been polished properly. Not perfect but looks good from a distance ;)
- Early 70's Keystone Klassic mags.
- lowered stock suspension, new bushes and rubbers etc. throughout. KYB adjustable shocks.
- Good condition early 60's red interior.
- B23ET. Forged crank, rods, pistons, rebuilt in 2013. Has done less than 10,000km.
- 531 head rebuilt in 2014. VX3 cam, IPD pulley
- Engine was built for LPG and has been running straight gas since the rebuild.
- Ported 90+ manifold and TD04-16T
- Megajolt lite jr EDIS ignition.
- FG XR6 turbo intercooler.
- 240 radiator and thermo fan.
- Last dynoed at 120rwkw with B cam, stock, locked 240 distributor and original T3 Garrett. Seat of pants says it's gained at least another 10rwkw since.
- EL Falcon T5 5 speed, flat flywheel, machined for Exedy HD clutch and pressure plate (thanks Alex!) Hurst quarter stick shifter.
- Richmond lockright locked in stock diff.
- Custom dash with 200km Speedhut GPS speedo and other gauges. Mota Lita wood rim steering wheel, Centre console, not finished.
- Fully rewired, new fuse box and relays etc.
- New braided brake lines, Wilwood master cylinder.
Car drives really well and has plenty of go, turns heads wherever it goes.
Aprox 400km/tank and $40 to fill in Perth (@76-85c/l).
I'm still working on it, I've just bought a gas research system to fit which should release more power still. I've still got to install the sound deadening and get carpets made. The dash trim still needs fitting.
Some things annoy me and need to be fixed IMO. The diff locker is great in a straight line but not good around corners, it would be better with boosted brakes and it needs some sway bars. The chrome trim needs redoing.
But unfortunately, I really need to move it on. Insurance has valued it at over 15k but I'm a realist. I know it's a 'niche' car, not for someone looking for originality but also not the type of car that appeals to classic muscle cars. So it's really only going to appeal to a Volvo fan.
So what do you think it's really worth?
