Sealed for life they say but I bet that near 50 years later it would still be loitering was a longer life than anticipated For less than 20 dollars 10 grease nipples and thread tap didn't appear to be any lubricant in there maybe this will help with the heavy steering
Got some jap car plugs to blank the hole afterwards
Anyone know where I,d get a vinyl proof fitted in qld would be cheaper than re roofing the car at some stage I think it was jumped on vinyl is deffo a period thing had a 67 lotus Cortna with factory vinyl back in the day

The long standing opinion about vinyl rooves,is they were production faulty cars.
Don't know how true it is. But this could stand to reason with your plan

Yes very common in carsales to hide the fact the car had been rolled or similar but for my damaged roof it just might be a period correct way of solving the problem
The guy I bought the car off had 2 daughters that learned to drive and took it to school its my guess some kid decided to jump on the car repairs were done but cracked bog shows where the repairs were and car rooves are near impossible to panelbeat vinyl would hide the evidence
It had one plus great sound deadening think that's the reason many expensive cars had vinyl
Was big on Leyland products I remember our neighbours brand new marina had one was an extra that was offered in the catalogue was even common on the morris 1100
You could be right wasn't much on a morris marina that wasn't faulty only marginally better than the worlds worst ever car the hillman hunter
,
Front end rebushed in urethane new steering joints possibly have a set of 15/7 jellybean alloys for it gearbox comes out tomorrow to rebuild driveshaft getting new unis brakes done so will have a sound car with tired motor soon
Wheels bought and paid for 15/7 being machined now. Not that much now before its road ready
Gearsick but proving challenging to undo at present going to drop the box as low as I can and undo top cover once box is out I hope I can remove cover and gearstick
Yes, drop the crossmember down to undo it.
Man its tight was able to remove the 6 top cover bolts now fighting with Allen bolts that haven't been undone in many years
Hoping once the gearbox is out I'll have space to extract cover and gearstick as a unit
Alloy nut so I'm less likely to damage it if I can work on a bench
18 inch shifter wouldn't budge it
